Ok so my mate has managed to rip a hole in his cg engine casing so I have taken it off his hands and am now trying to think of how to fix it.

Some one I know suggested an Xl engine but I'm not sure.

I have been offered an electric start engine but my model is kick start only would I be able to fit this engine?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Which engine is the electric start engine you've been offered?

If it has the kickstarter aswell it will just fit in place and will work fine if the previous bike was a 12v system with CDI. However it will be kick start only which isnt a real problem on a CG.

If it's electric start only you will need to buy a wiring loom for the ES models, upgrade the battery and get a starter switch for it to work.

I am curious how he managed to put a hole in the engine though Shocked

He was riding along an Aroad and by the looks of it the push rod snapped and ripped a hole in the casing pretty much all the way round the bottom end.

The engine I think is electric only.

Only sadly not made of money so cheapest route is preferred, however I like the idea of an electric bike especially as the cost of petrol is killing my bank balance.

Any ideas on the xl engine side?

Many thanks

better off with a stock cg lump if your a learner, if your not on L plates and you want a little bike with a bit more poke then get a 200cc kit of ebay for the cg lump, they make a surprising difference to cruising speed and very little drop in fuel economy.

Cheers

Not a learner so not worried about the power problem, just trying to find a few more possible engines to look for.

try get a CBR125 engine from a breaker, and wedge that in... 6 gears and a slightly higher top speed compared to the CG.

It's not at all designed for it and would probably need a little modification, but how about a cub/pit bike style engine?

I like the idea of having a bike where you have the option of say either a c90 engine for fuel economy a 160 pit bike engine for speed or a 50cc for 'ped racing Smile.

Ok so looks like I have an engine sorted now so my mind is turning to looks.

It has no side panels not a massive issue for now as I will order one soon as the real question is around head lights indicators and exhausts.

I don't know if I should stick with standard looks which I would need to sort out any way or go for a different look.

I don't like the look of street fighters as my friends have suggested I do so what do you guys think?

I'd go with 'cafe racer'; but the wider bars of a street fighter 'style' may be more practical.
