What robbing cunts

As most of you will have noticed, the postal rates are changing at the end of April and the presets on my franking machine need to be changed to allow for the new rates.

Now, to 'save time and have the rates conveniently ready' pitney bowes want to charge me £59.95 + vat for the update Shocked

So, one person at pitney bowes types in the prices to their system and the 100,000 + customers then pay a totally fucking over the top rip off charge of £72 to download the file that will take all of a few seconds during one of the weekly connections anyway

This charge on top of £12 a month for the pleasure of having the machine and £7 every time I add funds to it

I'm well pissed off with this and when the contract comes round for renewal they can stick it up their arse

Yes I have similar memories of using Pitney Bowes - but thankfully I wasn't the one footing the bills at the time.

So what's the benefit of a franking machine over stamps?

Up to the price change it saves 8p on a 2nd class letter which covers the large percentage of what i send out.

It's convenient, pack, stick in machine and it's done. hand in at post office and go home.

The discount on postage covers the rental and top up charges but additional charges for ink, price changing, service etc is making it less of a saving so will be looking to either go somewhere else or use stamps.

Might even have a look at buying prepaid post envelopes.

Based on 2nd class letter size i saved £217 on post in last year

machine cost £144 in rental and about £70 topup fees which has written off any saving from mail discount.
I've also has to replace ink twice so now it's costing me money

The discount is now slightly better but with a service on the machine and this £70 update means this year having a franking machine will also be costing me money

Perhaps look @ one of the Providers

Or look at the royal mail print your own option. Smart stamp.

Franking you have to take into a office, at least with the stick a stamp option you just drop in the nearest post box. Which may offset the increased cost of stamps, as you may have less travel time.
