The time has come (1 month after doing CBT and saying "125 will be fine for me cos I'm only commuting") that I'm bored of the lack of pace in a 125 and my full licence is to be pursued.

But which bike to use for my motivation...?

Currently I've got a gleaming and beautiful CBR125R, but for some reason while I love the look of my bike, I don't like the look of the CBR600RR. Not sure what it is about it...
I want something, the looks of which is going to make ladies' knickers fall down when I pass them in the street and inflate my ego from people wanting to oggle over my bike and be a distinct envy-green hue whenever they see me (or in short, something that looks reet good)
I want something that's going to grip the road thru corners with excellence and pace itself on a straight without sounding like the engine may well explode between my knees.

I'm thinking something along the lines of an R6 or a Ninja, but that's cos I've no idea what else is on offer.

Ideally, the budget for this used but wild beast will peak no higher than £2,500. So something that remains reliable over what will be 10 years or so of aging is going to be another requirement

Any ideas?

Don't forget to budget for insurance...the bikes you're talking about there will cost a fortune if you're an inexperienced nipper.

Also, bear in mind that stepping up to any 600 will seem like a rocket ship in comparison to a 125, if you are commuting then buy a budget commuter such a Divvy or Er6f where the insurance is relatively low Thumbs Up

No girl cares about your bike.

They (mostly) see them as dangerous and couldn't give a crap.

Get one you feel comfortable on.

The list of bikes you have to choose from is extensive, bear in mind the insurance will be sky high.

ZXR400
CBR400
VFR400

GSXR600

FZR600 should be cheap to insure, and so should a thundercat.

If you can't insure something like that, not much is wrong with a Honda Hornet, and the Insurance will be a lot lower. You can make them look pretty 'blingy' as well if you so desire!

It doesn't loose much to a 600 sport in top end, but does have a bit more torque to make up for the less revvy nature. Handling will also be top notch fun.

Umm, i don't know about where you're from, but most bikers down south seem to be a million years old. Head to any bike meet or sunday ride, and as soon as the helmets come off the white hair shines through, and girls know this.

Their dad, uncle, grandad etc ride bikes, and it's viewed as an expensive and dangerous hobby that only older people can afford. So even if you look the business on a bright green ZX6R, with a matching jacket and a sexy tinted visor, girls won't care. They won't. Trust me. I'm 24 and not a bad looking chap. But i may as well be a bald, fat, sweaty old man under the leather.

Fortunately my GF loves my bike, so who the hell cares about these other women.

Anyway, back on topic. How old are you, not sure you've stated that anywhere. Insurance will be a joke on a supersports 600 if you're really young. Oh and when people say 'it'll feel like a rocket ship compared to your 125'. Don't take that as 'it'll be a little fast', because it won't. It'll be fast to the point of being unbelievable and stupid. I'm glad i had a 500 in between my 125 and the ninja, but even now it's stupidly fast for real world situations.

If i was in your situation, i'd look at the Hornet, 600 Bandits or even an ER6 (should be in budget, just). Any of these will feel incredibly fast compared to the CBR you have, so don't feel down heartned that a sports bike is probably not on the cards as of yet.

What that man said! Clapping

Anything 350 plus is going to be a world away from your 125. Go get some lessons on the 500 training bikes (usually er-5/gs500) and you will soon realise just how fast those commuter 500's are. Bear in mind though that thrashing your old 125 is quite often more fun than a big bike. By the time you are in second gear you are well within losing your license territory.

my ninja seems to get alot of atraction, im thinking because it looks real sporty and its green! I definately get attention from hot girls, if im pulled up somewhere like on the sea front with my skidlid off i always get nice smiles and glances, girls do like bikers but young ones! im 28 with lots of blonde hair, blue eyes etc so im guessing i look pretty cool with my ninja.
Im sooo glad i didnt buy a hornet or bandit because they look so boring compared to a nice big green ninja! At the end of the day you want a bike thats gonna look like a proper bike and not some old farts run around.

Lol. We aren't all posers on the green ninjas. To be honest I don't think any bikers look good unless they are riding along. Leathers aren't flattering. Waddling along in race boots looks stupid. My Oxford comfy round my neck makes me look gay (mums words, not mine), and it sort of ruins the image of bikes if your just posing on it rather than riding.
