Well, they're certainly unique, if I had the money I might have wanted one just to be different, but I went and got a 2 stroke instead...
They're nice bikes if you ask me though . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

And the Tuono isn't a 2T because it's got a what engine....?!?
Oh yea, it has a Rotax 122 engine, alike with the Rs125, it shares the exact same frame, swingarm, forks, brakes, engine - basically, everything on it is the same as the Rs125 except it has a small front fairing instead of the full fairing and higher bars.
They cost less than the Rs, though not that much considering the expense of plastics these days - and they supposidly cost less to insure aswell. Also with the lack of fairings they'll be less prone to accident damage but it will leave them very exposed in winter months and I wouldn't say Aprilia's are all that keen on getting all dirty and salty through our typical UK winters.
If I was in the market for a 125 2T but didn't want a sports rep. I'd go straight for the Cagiva Planet or as it's now known, Raptor 125 which comes with the same exhaust as the Mito instead of the hideous one as standard on the Planet and has a black frame & swingarm (though some Planet's did too) and the same mudguard as the Mito aswell, unlike the Monster derived one on the Planet and different mirrors. It's basically the same as a Mito, except it comes in a design from the same person who penned the Ducati Monster and the larger Cagiva Raptor 650 & 1000's so unlike the Tuono which looks like a slightly streetfightered Rs, it's a completely different looking bike...

It does seem some Cagiva's are luck of the draw - friday night / monday morning jobs, but I had 2 years of very good riding on my Mito, 35,000km's without any problems (original piston & rings with good compression) until the engine bearings gave up, then it went another 10,000km's until I bought myself an Rs250. But it was meticulously looked after (especially seeing as I was 17-19) regularly serviced, warmed up and fully-synthetic engine oil only used in it.
Parts are easily bought from Mito Mondo as he specialises only in Cagiva's, especially Mito's (though can also get Derbi GPR parts as it's the same as the Cagiva Prima 50) and has very quick delivery and always has parts in stock - much better than 3X (infact, Rob who owns it, used to work for them but quit due to their poor service to start his own business).
Of the bikes I've had/have I think the Mito is easily the best made and I had the most enjoyment riding it - granted it's only a 125 but it was alot of fun without getting into really serious trouble... ____________________ My Bike pics - https://www.bikepics.com/members/cagivamito2001
