I live in Australia, those who don't know these rules apply for Learners
- You must be 16 9 months to get L's, before hand you must do a drive alone test, through cones, figure 8 you turns etc
- you are limited to 250's, but the catch is due to power:weight ratio laws you cant get a 2 stroke 250 (there goes my rgv)

I've ridden a bit before on thumpers but only twice, i can ride a bike a road bike though i'm not worried about power i'm sure i can handle it(sorry if i sound cocky). I'm quite big (tall not weight) so i need a bike with a relatively good sized frame for a 250/150, but i'm considering these bikes

- Honda NSR 150 - 2stroke /250
- Honda CBR 250
- Suzuki RGV 250 (even though its illegal hopefully i wont get caught)
- Suzuki GSXR 250
- Aprilia RS 150
- FZR
- ZZR
- A posty bike-for something to learn on so i can keep saving my money so i can buy a 600 when i get my P's

If any1 has any suggestions for other bikes, please include them but i only want a good bike, looks and performance wise.

This is the bike im thinking of buying

Most of us only have experience with the 150's there, although our versions are 125's. I wish i could give you a goodbit of help but im useless here Sad

It all depends on how much money you've got

2 strokes, especially large ones cost a fortune to use on a regular basis, however they are potentially capable of making double the power of a 4 stroke.

If you've not got so much money then go for a 4 stroke 250 such as a CBR untill your able to get something better and faster. In all honesty though a CBR250 will break any speed limit, uses very little fuel and should provide for all your biking needs for quite some time.

cbr 250 should be the most reliable too. although that yamaha looks good. if you like it go for it. should be reliable and fairly cheapish to run, compared to the 2 stroke equivilant, when you think of engine rebuilds and so on.

well CBR's are probably the most expensive 4 stroke 250's, i have a job but i dont make all that much money and it would take a long time to save up for a new bike, so im getting a loan from the bank to pay for 1, but i dont think im old enough yet, so im having to put off buying a bike for at least another year which really really sucks!
