Rear brake sticking

Hi I have a little problem with my 2004 cbr125r: recently if I don't ride my bike over the weekend then when I come to ride it the rear brake is stuck on and I cannot move my bike at all (bike is parked on an incline so just taking it off the stand normally gets it rolling) the issue might be caused by the cold weather or it was just coincidence that it was rather cold while my bike was parked, the bike is always kept under a cover outside.

I squirted some WD40 on the brake pads from the back and the top of the caliper and that loosens it up and then the bike is fine. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do to sort this? I'm guessing dissasemble, grease then reassemble the rear brake?

I hope you didnt.

get yourself a manual mate.Its sounds like the caliper is sticking.Take the caliper off (bid your wd40 soaked pads) fit new ones. Clean the caliper with hot soapy water. Pump the piston out a little and clean it. (dont go to far or the piston will pop out)
Push the piston back with your thumbs.Pump it out again. Apply a tiny bit of red rubber grease to the piston and push it back.
Stick the new pads in.
Should be good to go. Thumbs Up

I did the WD40 thing twice, I rode around the block accelerating and using the rear brake to slow down afterwards to get rid of it, was that a bad thing to do?

YES, those pads are only fit for the bin mate. WD40 is kerosense based which is a heavy oil.

Get some new ones and take it as a lesson learned. Thumbs Up

ok thank you for the help, just bought some grease from ebay and will be getting some pads tomorrow (£8.50 doesnt seem too bad)

Don't use soapy water, buy a proper can of brake cleaner, it makes the job a piece of piddle, he 11p of 2 tesco value toothbrushes also help.

and certain don't use WD40.


Also buy some coper-slip to grease the BACKS of the pads and the retaining pin.
