Hi all,
I have rarely any experience with the ignition system so i need you to look at the following images to determine whether or not there is anything missing (besides the ignition switch)
The bike it's from is a Kawasaki KE 125.
I also need to know which wires on the stator are for the ignition, which one leads to the ignition coil, and where the other one goes. Im using this motor on a go kart so i dont need the wires for the lights.
Thanks for all your help |

It's a non amplified points ignition system.
maget passes winding on stator created electrical pulse.
While points are open, those volts go to the ignition coil as the Low-Tension, feed energising the coil.
When the points open, the circuit to the coil is 'broken' causing the magnetic field it created in the coil to 'collapse' almost instanteniousely.
Coil 'reacts' with a reverse voltage, to oppose that change in applied voltage..... only it has no-where to go, in a broken circuit, so the ONLY thing it can do is jump the gap in the spark-plug....
Make sense?
What colour wire is coming off the points terminal?
Blue, is going to the condensor, which helps stop the LT volts jumping the points...
Is the other wire 'Black'?
Does that come out at a siamese bullet, on the stator's 'rat-tail'?
Would make sense.... one wire plugs into that to go to the coil to make sparks, another would go to the ignition switch and hence to earth to mimick a closed points to turn ignition 'off'. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
