No mention of the (I'm guessing large) weight.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that, the Saietta I posted in here has a kerb weight of about 140kg iirc.

That looks bloody odd too, why can't they make them pretty like the Honda.

That thing is horrible, I think I'd rather ride with this cool crowd: https://www.zroadster.net/tim/future/z14-c1-family-web.jpg than be caught dead on something like that lump.

Edit: I should make it clear, I'm referring to OP, not to the rather cool looking honda

I don't get them scooters with the roof and seatbelt.

If you're doing 40mph and a car pulls out and you hit it bang on, that thing is going to crumple up like a can of coke with you belted into it.

The alternative is, you fly off the bike and land either in the car or probably fly over it and on the floor.

I don't know which I would rather have happen!

I'd rather have the KTM Freeride if I HAD to have an electric bike:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/serenaur/KTM20Freeride20E20201.jpg

https://www.ktm.com/freeride/freeride-e/highlights.html

30 mins ride time for 1.5 hours battery charge in a bike that weighs just 95kg.

(Well, actually I'd just have the version with a 350cc 4 stroke motor but it's a bit out of my price range at the moment...)

Presumably, you would have to do your test on a 6volt and wait 2 years before being able to ride a 12volt Laughing

It's so very typical of 'Push' technology; engineers finding a use for something, rather than solving a pre-existing problem.

We are quite 'happy' riding petrol powered motorbikes and have been for a century. If we were to be 'sold' on an e-bike, it would have to do something 'better' than what our petrol engines can do.

Since the things are virtually 'silent', though they are off to a looser before they begin, since SO MANY people seem to associate a louder exhaust with 'better'....

But, if we could put that asside, we are essentially 'concervative' creatures and dont MUCH like change... and for something 'new' to be adopted, it generally has to have some tangible 'familiarity' about it.

The Honda looks 'better' as much becouse it LOOKS like what we expect a 'motorbike' to look like as becouse of the pleasant curves.

THAT, if you said it was powered by an ovel piston V10 petrol engine, would get a very different reception...

It would be percieved as any other unconventional concept bike or 'custom'.

And THAT is the 'problem' with so many of these e-bikes.

Thier creators start with blank sheet of paper, and try creating something 'Different', often because, being electric it IS different so they THINK it ought to LOOK different, OR because, they get carried away in thier persuit of technology, and elect to utilise radical out of the box solutions to 'spice up' the package.

But ULTIMATELY, what most people want, is a CBR600 or an R1, and IF the bike could deliver THAT kind of performance.... then the buyer would want it to LOOK a lot more like a CBR6 or an R1.

While if its to be sold on the merits of being a 'commuter'... then they have an even MORE concevative market to crack, who DO NOT want audaciouse styling or mouthwatering technical specification.... they want cheap, easy to maintain, and non-descript.

e-bikes, will, unfortunately be treated as irrelevent concept-projects, as long as they are building bikes that LOOK like irrelevent concept projects, RATHER than every-day bikes we are familiar with, that WORK like every-day bikes we are familiar with!

Evolution, not revolution.
