Have pair of TCX boots which are great condition apart from the Gear Lever pad on the left boot is worn right through and is now wearing through leather..

Does anyone know where in the UK I can get a replacement pad / repair done to the pad please? I am sure I have seen replacement pads at bike shows in the past. BTW they are 4 years old and out of warranty..

Sometimes the obvious answers do not come to mind. Thanks just sent them an email to custcare_tcx@novation.it
Whether they reply or not who knows!

I am sure I have seen aftermarket products at bike shows. Phoned round my local bike gear shops today but no luck yet.

If you do get a reply, can you post up here. The soles on my boots are wearing badly as I used to do too much walking off the bike in them. Now they are worse for wear but the rest of the boots are fine! (apart from a little rip beside the zip)

I have been in touch with TCX this week as my waterproof boots leak. The email address above does work but they will refer you to the UK distributor nevis marketing. I have been in touch with them so if you don't hear anything back, let us know and I will send you the contact details I have for them. I don't want to post up unless essential.

Funnily enough I emailed them today too (Italian Email address, linked to from the English website - custcare_tcx@novation.it )
The reinforced area (on my right boot) has started to come apart at the seams, only had them since October so it's not really good enough.
I'll post up if I get a reply too.

OK reply from Italy and Nevis today. Shown below.

"First of all, I would like to thank you for your kind interest in our boots and brand.

With the present, I am kindly asking you to get in contact with our importer in the UK, as follows:

• NEVIS MARKETING LTD , Tel. +44 14 25 47 89 36 or at daniel@nevis.uk.com

Anyhow, our importer’s Customer Service, in copy on this email, gets back to you as soon as possible giving you the information needed and/or informing you where to buy our products.

Thank you for your kind attention and cooperation,

Kind regards / Cordialement

Silvia"

Then from Daniel at Nevis

"Hi,
Sorry to hear you have had a problem with the boots, sadly there isn’t a replacement panel available as it has to be stitched in and that would rupture the Gore-Tex membrane in the boot making them leak.
Sorry I can’t be of further assistance on this matter.
Best wishes,

Daniel Wretham <daniel@nevis.uk.com>

Not massively impressed with the reply really, so I have sent back to Silvia
"Thank you Silvia
Daniels reply to me is below.
Just to show you what I refer too, I have attached 2 photographs so you can see the problem. As you can see the boot have been well looked after and are in great condition otherwise.

I am really disappointed that I will soon have to replace these boots for the sake of a small rubber pad which could just be stuck on.

goto10 - what reply did you get?

My problem is that the store I bought my boots from aren't interested in refunding the full amount or an exchange as I have already had a pair of these replaced for the same reason.

I've not heard a dicky bird yet, I'll send a follow up email later today...
The fact you've already had a pair replaced shouldn't go against you, if it's still faulty then they ought to exchange, assuming it's within the exchange period.
That said, when dealing with small shops, I generally get better results when going directly to the manufacturer.

Well I emailed twice and got a fast reply. Basically my boots are probably out of warranty and to find out how much it will be I have to take them to some place 18 thousand miles away. I'll just buy a new set when they are fully worn out.

Note I emailed that David geezer directly.

Just an update: Nevis Marketing were very kind and swapped my boots for a new pair. Thanks to Forthgear in South Queensferry for dealing with the return and Dan at Nevis Marketing the UK distributors for TCX.
