 |
|
Hi all
It's come to that end of year again where I've had to renew.
I made the mistake last year of not finding out if I could ride other bikes (brothers, dads, friends etc) on my policy
I'm 24, 8 years no claims and will be doing a multibike policy.
I've tried:
Bennetts: Must be over 25
H&R insurance: Won't insure me for multibike.
MCE?
Bikesure?
Motorcycles direct?
Carole Nash?
My last premium was a multibike policy, £220, 7 years no claims, 3 bikes with Bennetts so I can get insured and it is cheap.
So does anyone recommend I try the above insurers or if you've got experience with any that offer riding other bikes?
Cheers ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Ebike are good for multibike policies...
Although be prepared to send copies of licence and also proof of NCB....
And that renewall letter is NOT GOOD ENOUGH as it is not dated at the end of the year... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

I'm 19, a year of NCB (two come May) and have ride other bikes on my policy, if I can find the name of the insurer I'll post it. Just keep having a look around, some companies let you specify it on your policy for an extra fee.
On a side note, I've had ride other bikes on every policy since I've been 17. These have been with MCE/Falcon Insurance I believe.

I'm 18 (only by about a week when I took the policy), with 1 years NCB.
My insurer gives me pillion cover, EU riding for up to 90 days and cover to ride other bikes TPO.
The insurer was also very good and let me add all of my modifications (sat nav, tank pad, restrictor kit, alarm, alpha.dot) without affecting the price of the policy. Other insurers put my quote from ~£250 to over £1000 at the mention of a restrictor kit They refused to quote if I had a restrictor kit and an alarm
Currently with Equity Red Star (underwriter), which I bought through WickedQuotes (broker). ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

I'm 22, insured with Bikesure just this last week and a half and it specifically mentions that I CAN ride other bikes third party.
I've yet to see any age restriction on it either sooooooo.......
Who wants to let me ride their bike?  ____________________ '89 Honda NS125F (SOLD) -> '92 Suzuki GS500E (SOLD) -> '03 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H (SOLD) -> '96 VFR 750 RC36 (SOLD) -> '02 Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird |

I thought you had to be 25 to have the 'ride other bikes' on your insurance? ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

Thanks for all the replies!
I used to be able to ride other bikes when I was younger but didn't think of it when renewing as it's always been the norm.
I think I'll try Bikesure.
Shereen, H&R won't accept my multibike policy for some reason.
Only ever heard bad with eBike so not tempted with them.
Carole Nash I'l have to try but they always come up expensive.
Seems Equity Red Star are the way forward.
I'll try MCE too.
Never heard of this 'Wicked Quotes' so I'll have to try them too.
Thanks all for the input! ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Do insurers seriously consider a tank pad a modification? That's got to rank alongside declaring that my tax disc holder is attached to my pillion footpeg holder?
I've always got a good price and really good service through Direct Choice. I'd had my licence for a year before I got my first bike and they actually called to check that I didn't have any no-claims. ____________________ '82 C50, '81 CB100, '84 GS125, '95 NTV650, '00 Bandit 600, '06 SV650, '56 Z1000, '89 NTV600

Before you go for MCE.... Do a search here...
If you have heard ebike were bad... Then I dread to think how MCE rate.. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |
