Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice as im sure you all know by now i havent got alot of knowledge about this sort of stuff yet, i have been toying with the idea of a track bike for a while and at the minute i havent got the funds to do what i want to my bike to get it on the road so i have decided to turn it into a track bike, now i believe i can take the bike to a track day, pay and go around however if i get into it and i know i will be somewhat of the pace but what would i need to alter to enter a race. I am based in the North West and the club i am looking at is Aintree, and i think all it says is no upside down forks and that youve got your engine and frame numbers, However i might be able to get hold of an engine, for the same bike as mine is partially stripped down at the moment, so would i not be able to race this ? or is it just to stop people putting bigger engines in ? and also if anybody else is in a club north west way what are your regulations for your race bike, thanks

It's to stop people entering with stolen bikes, to stop thefts and then selling on to club racers which isn't uncommon.

However, if you can't afford to get a bike on a road, running in a race series will be much more expensive.

At the very least you're gonna need body work with no glass, side stand removing, and a belly pan capable of holding fluids.

Yes i understand it will cost alot but i wont be entering the race series this year, i just want to get it together and do a few track days but i dont want to spend time and money on parts that i might then have to replace at a later date in order to compete, and ahh right i understand so if i had the engine number changed on the V5 they are likley to turn a blind eye and accept the new engine, cheers

it will be worth reading this Big_hams guide to starting racing

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=151386

and reading the regs for the particular club/class your thinking of competing in

Do a few trackdays first mate, I don't race but have just started doing trackdays and its a surreal experience. Might be worth just sticking with trackdays until your at a competetive level in faster group. Just my opinion but think this will be more benficial to you aswell as keeping costs down.
