Just curious, but why are you worried about it being a USA bike?
Many UK dealers bought them in and put them through the UK test and are fine, just make sure you have a good warrenty like a UK bike and you will be A.O.K

There was a problem with USA R1's in LAVA red that kept on eating their heads from shitty metal used but Dealers would help out the owners by doing some dodgy number swaps on the yamaha warrenty consoles.

it wernt a case of worrying about it being usa bike it was just because ive only seen one for sale, i didnt realise that there would be american bikes over here at all, is there any difference between the uk and usa versions... why did dealers go to the trouble of importing then anyway was it just for the colours or was it some other reason? must cost the same as a spray job to import a bike?

No because the sell a UK spec model so it doesn't matter.

for money, basically

good old rip off britain, where we pay more for consumer goods than everyone else and an R6 in the usa is the same price as here but in $ not £, so you buy a container full, ship the whole lot here, pay your import duty and still make more money out of them than selling uk market bikes

Imported bikes are cheaper to buy than UK spec ones, they are the same bike but theres a lot of red tape bollox around it all when it comes to part numbers and gay emissions parts.
