Sometimes you have one of those fuzzy good days, this was one...
After a mind numbing day at uni (the finer details of bricks, variations of types, laying, mortar types..... hmmm nice) I set off to see my lovely girlfriend, just comeing out of the drive a guy walks up and says "you dont many of those on the road now" (refering to the cx) a short coversation later he mentioned he had a faring for a cx he had not long ago, practicaly brand new, takeing up space, "how much did you want for it?" i said trying not to look to excited, "nowt, just want it out of the garrage" (i sensed naging of a wife somewhere allong the line)
Bloody fantastic, these are as rare as people who think paul daniels shouldn't be killed for the good of mankind, or those who found kith chegwins nude gameshow strangely arrouseing.... they are RARE ive seen one ever in sweeden...
Also lurking in his garrage was.... a suzuki (gt 550?) three cylinder 500cc TWO STROKE!!! bloody madness!!!!
It needs some work, its kickstart has bent off, the carb rubbers have had it (no way can they be brought, other than getting new carbs might look into getting some made) and other little bits...
He wants what he aquired it for £250... now this guy just gave me a faring for nothing so i'd imagine he is trustworthy! he didn't seem to actively selling (not advertiseing defenately) even in its current state its will be worth WAY more than £250 if brocken up, i mentioned it to my mate and he said we could go halfs on it, do it up and sell it on....
What do you reckon? win win, or am i out of my hairy mind?
Oh yeh, do you reckon i should get this guy something in thanks, i mean that really was cool, something usefull like a can of WD40 or autosol? something cheepish and handy?
Well done that man though  ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Heh, give the guy a pressie eh? I had a similar day. Tutor at uni., spend 1.5 hours recommending books, when he was actually reading out the reading list Feck me how bored was I?
Get home, spend 2 hours working on the bike (dead as) till it dawned on me to go fetch fresh plugs. Did so, and 10 minutes later I was flying down the road My first filtering, first 70mph+, and all other kinds of fun stuff Like twistys, lean one way and then flick over for the other Beauty! So much fun After such a scheisse day
But it's gone tits up now anyhoo Shit happens
Edit; I forgot to mention, at least two biker's nods, which always make my day ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

I have a T500 which is the predecessor to that bike, it is a 2-stroke twin and goes like stink. They have loads of bottom-end torque those bikes, mine will pull cleanly from 2k rpm.
It is an unusual bike and is almost certainly worth £250 if there is minimal rust and the engine turns-over and has compression.
Bear in mind that a bike like that will cost you a fair bit to put back on the road, there are always what I call 'buggerations'. for example, mine needs a throttle cable with a funny splitter on it...£45!
You probably can get parts for it, Crooks Suzuki would be one supplier that springs to mind. You will have to pay for them though!

Ive just been let in on a few of the finer points of the GTs
If i had more money to throw about i'd probably go for it, as wrong as it would be, they are lets face it about as nutty as bikes get (certainly of their age) i might have a look at how much spares go for...
I have trouble keeping mine in good nick really, the most likely spare bike i'd be getting would be a cub90 fwarrrrrr... ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Granted, but you gotta admit, they are damn good fun when they are running. Whenever I go home, I make sure I get a shot on my dads KH350
So what if you have to set the timing every 200 miles and constantly fiddle with the carbs.....it is a silly bike never REALLY designed as anything other than a toy (otherwise it wouldn't have a 2 1/2 gallon tank when it hoovers a gallon of petrol in 20-25 miles) ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
