Isn't it the most wonderful thing ever. It does everything. I've only recently just discovered it's brilliant cleaning abilities. My question is, is it ok to use it on the fairings?

Also my mate's car has those chrome plated alloys. Would it be ok if he used it to clean them? It's not going to ruin them at all is it?

Cheers!

Go for it mate, I've used it on my fairings before (now using Scottoiler FS365), and I see no reason not to use it on the alloys.

You can use it on just about any part of the bike, bar the discs and pads Wink

Using that or a general oily maintenance spray will leave a nice protecting oily coating on your metal work.

When the winter months draw in (which they seem to be doing) i give the bike a clean every couple of weeks, after cleaning it and geting it shiney it gets plastered it in WD40, it looses its shiney goodness but it keeps it from rusting like hell, all the filth clings to it but underneeth all is well...

Couple of notes, its not good for your brakes, its not good for your tyres, it wont do your garrage floors grip qualities any good.

I've always found that anything I regularly 'clean' with WD-40 rusts 10 times faster when it's not had a spray...

Like, um, if cutting your hair actually made it grow faster so the need for the next cut came sooner; you'd cut it again and it would grow even faster than ever etc etc etc - catching you in an ever increasing spiral of insanity... you'd have to cut it cos it's getting so long but you know cutting it is going to make grow even faster... Laughing y'see?

I went to the ruthoth Autojumble last week and I paid £5 for a spray bottle (pump action) and 5 litres of WD40 in a barrel. BARGIN!
My scooter is now driping in the stuff, hehe, protecting my NEW forks and frame through the winter.

WD-40 is good for cleaning exhaust downpipes too, brings them back to shiney blackness and prevents surface rusting etc, though you get a nice big ploom of smoke when you first start the engine after doing it.

The military tend to cover everything in a layer of WD40.

Vehicles, weapons, kitchen utensils...

Its like clothing for innanimate objects.

I have been told it can deteriorate rubber Confused by my mechanic and not to use it when cleaning the drive chain because of the rubber O-Rings within the chain, it is because of this that I am against the use of it I prefer to apply polish and carnnuba wax to areas of exposure as it has quality ratings and is designed to work in poor conditions but I am sure it is a queation of taste...... or smell Very Happy
