Grr ;(
Noticed a while ago on my CG125, that the key could be removed in the on position, but didn't think much of it

I went for a ride today and when I went to switch it off on the driveway, the key wasn't there

It's fallen out.

(Whilst writing this I'm currently downloading the helmetcam footage to try and see where it fell out so I can go back for it)

If I can't find my spare (I have a bad feeling that this has happened already with the spare, as I remember having a "huh" moment similar to this) I'll be a bit stuck with what to do? Confused

It's stuck in the On position so I can still ride it, but anyone can kickstart it now

They could anyway, you have just saved them about 500 milli seconds with this. Good luck finding your key Thumbs Up

Just put an in-line switch into the low tension circuit and stick it where it can't be seen.

It fell out riding it?

Does not taking the key out cut ignition?

Only if you turn to OFF, leaving it on completes the circuit. The GSXR key just comes out whenever it chooses Laughing

soooo......what's the bike? If you could tell me your address and where the bike is kept, also any details on other security you may have.... Wink

Seriously though, this happened to me, took two hours to retrace my steps on foot only to return back to the bike and found they had fallen out and got wedged between the frame crossbar and the fuel tank.
Needless to say they always go into pocket now and a spare is on the wifes keys - just in case![/quote]

This is the reason I have a lanyard wrapped around my bars, as once I realised they could come out and not affect the bikes running I wanted some means of clipping the keys to the bike.

As soon as I lost my spare I would have had another one cut.

There's a place in Huddersfield near the uni on the road going to Morissons, if you remove the barrel he will make you a key. I think a lot of people in West Yorks go to him.

Mine does exactly the same. Old key, very worn down Very Happy I bought a pack of these keyrings with bungee cords. Binned the plastic belt clip bit, attached a mini carabiner to one end (keys on the other obv.) of the springly cord and now I just wrap it round the right clipon and back to the keyring Thumbs Up

This sounds weird as when I purchased my new lock set when you turn it to the on position you can't pull they key out as it locks it in place until you turn it to the off position again.

Anyway I would have two spares cut one to be kept at home and the other to be kept with you at all times in clothing.

I was lucky enough to find the key I lost Cool

I guessed it would have jumped out going over speed bumps or pot holes, so went and checked those places and found it laying near the kerb, about 2 meters away from a speedbump. Thumbs Up

Have done as suggested; cable tie & clip bodge! That'll do for now anyway!

This is a key.

My little RXS 100 could be started with an ice lolly stick. The barrel was beyond buggered. As a precaution I would park up and just unhook the spark plug cap a little. Just enough to prevent the it from sparking. Kept the bike safe for well over a year until I sold it.

What year CG do you have? That looks nothing like mine, so I'm guessing yours is older than a 2004 one.

My 2002 M1 model had the same dash.
The new ones have a tachometer I think?
