Tef or the kids fallen out with anyone? Having a bike away is one thing, coming back breaking into a house and having another away is more like someone who has a grudge. Nicking a bike is a slap on the wrists burglary is seen as a lot more seriously.

This is either a grudge, or the scum went after the DT, then cased the joint when they saw the other stuff laying around.

Or, with my ultra cynical head on, somebody has seen this forum and targetted your bikes; with the technology available and the brain to manipulate it, it's amazing the detail you can find, if you have the inclination.

The perfect example of why people shouldn't be so vocal on open forums
about themselves and what they have stashed in their yards...

Going through yours and his posts its very easy to build up a picture
of you, even those of us who don't know you can do it.

A rough area is known, usernames are quite unique and on other sites,
with more revealing details.

In your opening post you have a pic with a bin with a house number on.

After 10 minutes, I know who you are, the street where you live, and now
your house number and I know you have bikes stashed in your yard without
any real security, if I can do this, the unsavory characters can do it

Just saying... it might sound harsh, but it was only a matter of time until
something like this happened Shocked

^ i have to agree with this, its an inconvinient truth that even scrots looking for bikes are smart enough to do this,
but im think its a little more than this they have targeted 2 bike but more importantly they've stolen one then returned nicked some bike keys and another bike, so they've got 2 old bike with the keys, it doesnt take a genius to see where thats going.

Wow that sucks, it makes it 10 times worse the amount of effort you put into it judging from your topic.

Best of luck with the Police, Insurance and all the alleys available to you for recovery.

You and Tef seem like a lovely couple and it really is a bloody shame.
At the end of the day, £2-3k is nothing compared to the effort I know you put in to those bikes.

For the CB125, and the DT125, and all the assorted bits and bobs that went into them.

Well, me and you are rational thinkers.

I have a reasonable bit of money, perhaps some career prospects ahead of me. To me a grand is what, a few week's wages? No point breaking in to a house for it unless there was virtually zero risk of being caught.

It's a bit different to someone with no job, no prospects, maybe some other issues like drug problems or whatever.

Not saying there is any excuse for the bike being taken, just saying you can't really expect logic from petty thieves.

How many years have I been on this and other forums?
What can any-one learn from my posts about what bikes I have or where they are, they couldn't walking up the street? Listening to gossip?

Much as I find welshy an annoying little tosser; he has a point; if any-one was to learn anything about these bikes from these posts, it would be that they aren't the 'best' bikes to go nick!

CB125 Super-Dreams are not worth serious money, in ANY condition, old Yamaha DT125's, not much more. And both these examples have had SO much detail attension, and have so many identifying features, that not only is it a big risk to have taken them, for a not that great a reward, but there is as much risk in them being subsequently identified.

As for 'decent security'; BOTH bikes were alarmed. Both bikes were locked, and chained.

Storing keys in the house? well, as an ultra precaution, yeah, great idea.

Rather impractical though when I have invested in SO MUCH security that there are WERE a dozen BUNCHES of keys for them all. NOT something I could pop in my pocket.. I'd need to lug around a ruddy satchel!

Bottom line is what's gone is gone. Speculating as to how, or why, or who, while perhaps a natural thing to do, isn't likely to change the situation. And I have wasted far too much of my life in impotent rage, to wish to do so yet again.

Wagging fingers, offering critasism of our security, even is LESS helpful, and a somewhat low-blow, after a sucker-punch.

We were neither nieve or foolish; 'reasonable' security measures WERE in place, and it is a sad state of affairs that ANY are needed at all.

But by all means carry on; this will NOT bring US down. The idea of 'giving up' has already crossed both Snowie's mind and mine, but sorry, NO!

Life is full of adversity and set-backs. This situation GALLS, but life carries on, and I have far more important things that need my attention, than sifting through the shit left behind by this one.

I would rather look at the positives.

The Pup Project, succeeded in teaching Snowie Mechanics.
THAT is positive.

The Pup, went on to take Snowie Road-Training, and provided an 'inspiring' machine for her to ride, and give her confidence.
THAT is a positive.

The Custard-Tart, was supposed to be my bit of fun and occupational theropy. I finished it. I didn't get an MOT Mans final seal of approval before they took it, BUT I saw the project through, and had a lot of fun along the way.
THAT is positive.

Both bikes have been an inspiration to many others, through posting the progress of their reconstruction on here.
That TOO is positive.

LETS NOT scratt in the gutter, like the skum that ended these dreams, letting them drag us down to THEIR level, but aspire to a higher level of decency, and NEW dreams, goals and endevours.

For now, and for our part, we merely have to find out what those dreams may be, and can then start trying to make them, as real, as we did The-Pup and The Custard-Tart.
