 Posted: 22:01 - 24 Apr 2012 Post subject: Advice on Mirrored/Tinted Visor |
 |
|
Hi all
Currently I have a Shoei XR1000 joust black Helmet, and have the clear visor. I am looking for Road Legal mirrored/tinted visor.
I have seen on ebay and google that the Genuine Shoei Rainbow Iridium CX1-V Visor Pinlock Ready might be road legal
I've also had a look on Shoei website but not quite sure if its legal or not
https://www.shoei-europe.com/uk/products/accessories/
I have also looked at the pinlock but it doesnt provide that mirrored look.
Has anyone got caught using non road legal visors?
Any advise would be great.
Thanks ____________________ Current: Suzuki GSX R 600 L2

None of the mirrored visors you can buy are road-legal. Same with heavily tinted visors. However, you are very unlikely to get pulled about it in the daytime.

The depreciation on your daft 4T trinketmobile dwarfs any potential FPNs or fines from wearing an illegal tinted visor. Live it up a bit, eh? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

"Rainbow coloured one"
Good description
the Iridium ^^
I have a blue iridium one (see here)
one minor niggle with Iridium visor... When it gets damp and bug splats, leaves streaks on the outside which you don't notice from the inside but on the outside it looks like someone has wiped there arse across your visor, Until you give it a clean and dry it again. ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000

Got the same helmet as you, just get an official Shoei 'dark smoke' visor.
I've worn mine all through the sunny weather we have had recently, probably been past around 15 Police cars, once there was even an escort where someone was walking a horse down a road so I slowed right down and nodded to 2 coppers on foot, no problems ____________________ 07' Honda Hornet now full powaah! I had a motorcycle cop *recommend* a tinted visor for my commute (directly east in the morning, directly west on the way home). He was an accident investigator and thinks those are preferrable to sunglasses bouncing around inside the lid during an accident (poking out the eye, etc.).
He recommended one of the new pinlocks that are light sensitive, but don't do that. The Shoei visor blocks nearly 100% of UV light, so the visor never darkens. I learned this the expensive way. |
