Washing up liquid & sugar.
You didn't have this in your poll though so I voted for the blood of 100 puppies. Thumbs Up

The nitrile gloves I get, from the supermarket, come in various sizes, and unlike the latex, "surgical" type gloves, have a grippy surface.
Once you suss out the correct size you'll forget youv'e got them on.

Washing up liquid and wash powder together, washing up liquid works as a degreaser and the wash powder acts like the grit in swarfega.

A good barrier cream makes your hands a lot easier to clean.

I have been known to use neat bleach if I have got something on my hands that really stains, just dont leave it on too long.

I was going to wire brush and sander....

I have a little tub of swarfega (which they have taken the sand out of), for really tough dirt, but usually soap and a scrubbing brush

Asda were selling Swarfega tubs that normally sell for £5+ for only £1 per tub - so i bought the lot - all 15 tubs.
Handy for keeping in the back of the car and in the bathroom/kitchen/shed/garage etc.

I used to use swarfega but I hate that shit, now I mix daz or any other powder for washing cloths, sugar and a blob of shampoo to make a paste (someone told me shampoo works well because it's made to get the oil/grease out your hair) I didn't really believe this but it works, the only thing this mix doesn't do well is getting the oil out from under your nails, I use an old tooth brush for that. Swatfega was great but it made my hands feel weird Confused

None of the above.

Normally wear latex/nitrile gloves depending on what I am doing.

If (when) I still get covered in oil/grime I use some W5 hand wash stuff from lidl, it is in a small metal tin with a red lid. It's a wood pulp with a soap mixed in, works just as well as swarfega but costs bugger all.

Detergent products can be surprising. I once had a work project on degreasing metal swarf and we found that the liquid clothes detergents (Persil etc) were just as good as speciality metal working detergents, but much cheaper and smelt nice. So I have used Persil liquid to clean my hands in the past, but not too often or it knackers your skin. Shampoo is also more effective than simple soap, and you can get very cheap shampoo.

An old gardener's tip is before you start working, dig your finger nails into a bar of soap. This means get soap under your fingernails and the dirt can't get in. They will come up nice and clean when you wash up at the end.

Usually washing up liquid and hot water (although not in the kitchen sink after getting a telling off from the ladyfriend). Sometimes if there's some really stubborn stuff I'll give them a quick squirt of wd40 and then rinse off - I figure it can't be any worse than the stuff it's taking off Razz
