Was it you?? Honda NTV (**5 LEV) and another bike (**60 SFV) - the NTV goes to undertake (granted, a touch naughty on the double whites), the other bike is clearly watching him in his left mirror but decides he doesn't want to be undertaken and tries to block (is that classic cager mentality or what?!) - the NTV gets past anyway only for the tit on the other bike (**60 SFV) to overtake and then dangerously cut in front in order to exact his revenge Rolling Eyes - they both then get a touch close to each other whilst shouting expletives.
Ahhh, the brotherhood of the bike... makes you feel all warm inside doesn't it?

I know this isn't the video section, but it goes with the above General Chat Cool Story Bro

(Video time is still an hour early because I'm too lazy to change it)

You get Plenty of dicks on the A13 at that time. I was stuck behind some Dick in a massive BMW panniers and all, despite not being able to fit through the gaps he would just sit in the middle blocking all the bikes behind him. He keep checking his mirrors and knew there where people behind but wouldn't move over for a few second to let people past.

I can see why the front biker's a bit pissed, he's driving on the center waiting for the solid line to break, and the very inch that it does, he's moving back to the left lane, he's planned that all along, but high-vis plonker's just ignored the solid line and undertaken

He shouldn't have done that revenge thing by overtaking then cutting back in, but he did it to make a point. Mr High Vis misbehaved first Wink

75% of the twat to High Vis, 25% twat to other biker.

I'd say the other way personally. I would have done what Mr NTV did, especially if I have been stuck behind Mr Hi Viz.

I have said this before, but there's no reason for you not to cross those double white lines.

Single/broken and double solid white line systems only apply on two way carriageways. On two way roads you are not allowed to cross if the line closest to you is solid. That doesn't mean you can't overtake if there is room, so long as you don't cross it. They also mean no stopping on either side of the carriageway, even if your side has the broken line, most people don't realise that.

In a tunnel like that where both lanes are going in the same direction they aren't the same at all.

Where do you get that from?? solid lines are solid lines, if they are in betweeen lanes going the same way they are there to say the same thing - do not cross, keep in your lane.

Stationary vehicle is an interesting one, says that you are allowed to cross the double white to go around it - does this mean it's ok to filter past stationary traffic over the double whites? Or is that pushing it?

2 (b)subject to paragraph (6), every vehicle proceeding on any length of road along which the marking has been so placed that, as viewed in the direction of travel of the vehicle, a continuous line is on the left of a broken line or of another continuous line, shall be so driven as to keep the first-mentioned continuous line on the right hand or off side of the vehicle.

In English, that means you must keep the solid line to your offside e.g. do not cross it. Subject to exclusions in paragraph 6, but on reading paragraph 6, there is nothing in it that allows you to cross it normally, there are just some exemptions for a stationary vehicle or certain types of vehicle/cycle/horse travelling less than 10mph.

Perhaps you could share your interpretation? As far as I can make out, your reference disagrees with your own view.

It allows you to stop/park if the lines are between lanes going the in same direction unlike the two way road, but there would be a big argument over the "keeping the line on the offside" You could argue you can undertake but not overtake. Dunno if there is any actual case law for it.

Use that tunnel far too much in recent years, double whites are the only thing I dont really filter on? The rest of the time I ride like a twat at times but will adhere to this rule? Strange I know.

I've been undertaken inappropriately when waiting for an exit to appear and just left them to speed off, the fact that a mile or so down the road I had caught him up and held me up is another matter.

Laughing

Let them be, if they wish to ride like an idiot then let them

You all riding like twats in the video anyway. swerving between lanes, undertaking everything. What's wrong with just waiting in the fast lane for the cars to move, rather than riding between them at speed?

City riding is very very different to normal town/country riding.
I like riding in London, but not doing it very often means it's quite tiring. Any gap, go for it, while usually making sure you aren't blocking anyone else off, and trying to squeeze to the front and leave room for others.

Because they won't. Ever.
I can only assume you've never ridden on that stretch of road at rush hour? Even police riders do the same. It may not be right, but it's the _only_ way you'll ever make progress.

I've never ridden in London no, driven, but not ridden. And just like any busy stretch of road I will await a gap and only filter when the traffic is going slow enough. Darting between cars and undertaking at speed is asking for trouble. All you need is a car too see you behind it, move over to let you pass only to realise they have moved into you.

(Granted such courteous drivers are rare, but they do exist)

You should try riding in a Marrakesh rush hour Laughing

You'd be a quivering heap at the side of the road.

If you have to keep the solid white line to your right in your direction of travel, all vehicles in lane 2 would be committing an endorseable offence if I was wrong wouldn't they.

A few years back the old bill handed out a lot of fixed penalties to drivers crossing double white lines in a tunnel approaching Gatwick or Heathrow airport which was marked the same way as the A13 tunnels shown in the video above. They had to cancel the tickets and get the points revoked when they realised their error.

I have also seen 'keep in lane' signs at the entrance to tunnels like this (M4 in Wales I think was the last one I saw). This isn't a legal sign except in roadworks where it is allowed.
