Because i did my CBT yesterday and left my visor open for about 10 mins, before i knew it my face was covered with green flies, could feel them walking all over my cheeks, tickled so much but i couldnt do much about it until we stopped.
Learnt that lesson anyway, kept visor down for the rest of the road ride.
But since then my face has itched like mad, im guessing its either the green flies or the sweat from the helmet, as it wasnt even my own helmet either.
Just had a shave and if anything it itches more!

They carry the HIV virus, I'd go to your local GUM clinic and get an MOT mate.

I rode through a cloud of greenfly an sunday at dusk.
I have never seen anything like it!
Within about 3 or 4 seconds my entire visor was covered in dead greenfly and i had real difficulty seeing anything.
When i got home my bike was covered,my jacket was covered even my boots and gloves were covered. I was just gad i had my visor down.
Thank fuck they don't bite, because i would either be dead or an aids victim now.

I guess you learned a good lesson, keep the shield down no green flies. I didn't know they carried the HIV virus, thanks for the info.

I got one in my eye once when I was on my pedal bike. Went through a cloud of them at about 20mph, came home and had to scrape it out from under my eye ball Sick

Straight answer is no to humans. But they secrete a liquid that can be an irritant. With the amount you have and a good guess is they where squashed on your face. That's where the trouble come's from. A good wash and just a bit of hand cream will sort you out.

Give it a bit of time (272 days or so) and if it still itches see your Dr.

That'll solve it Thumbs Up

Moral of the story... don't put your face near other people's sweaty helmet, or green flies.

I rode through a swarm of bees when I was going through France a couple of weeks ago. Luckily visor was down. Didn't realise they were bees until I stopped to clean the visor so I could see. Front of bike, me and helmet, covered in dead black and yellow stripey bodies. It felt like riding through what I can only describe as someone throwing a load of soft earth at you. Glad I didn't realise it was bees at the time as I would have freaked out (I have a phobia).
