you don't 'need' any paperwork, but you will more likely get a buyer if you do.
I wouldn't buy any bike that didn't at least have a v5 obviously, in the name of the
seller, backed up with their photo ID (driving licence / passport etc) or with the 'owner'
present at the sale, again backed up by photo ID. but the whole photo Id is just me
being overly cautious, but most people wont have a problem showing them, or letting
you take a photo of it.
Possibly an MOT certificate, but not essential as all this can be found online with details
from the V5, although says a lot about a seller if the papers aren't in order etc
If its a newish bike a receipt for when it was bought, or a letter from the finance company
stating its cleared of finance.
Optional extras would be previous MOT certificates, but isn't really needed as you can
look it all up online.
A service log, either stamped by the dealer / garage, if its fairly new, or just receipts for
parts etc if its older and been done by the owner.
Possibly a HPI done by the seller, but I would prefer to do one myself. |

HELLO THERE.
If you want useful information for you, provide some details.
What's the age, condition and approximate value of your bike?
Why are you asking? I assume you don't have any paperwork.
Why not? Did you buy it from a bloke behind a pub?
Is it a 1975 Yamaha DT in orange?
Are you, or do you appear to be, a bit of a geezer? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
