Not much explanation to go with it i'm afraid. Apparently its been found in Egypt, 70 years after crashing.

With hardly any humidity it looks good for a 70-year old crashed plane. Well preserved. Odd, considering the amount of sand involved.

Love the sandblasting of the paintwork!

Poor fucker to have landed it that well and then been faced with a walk miles from anywhere.

Don't think he survived; if it was anywhere near a walking distance from a city/village - the plane would have been found a long time ago. Must have been a horrible, slow, painful death.

Spliff anyone? Mr. Green

P-40 aka Curtiss Warhawk. Was my dream fantasy plane as a kid. I loved the snarling sharks face and painted one on a model boat I built when I was about 9 or 10 yrs old.
Great find!

The Egyptian government have been informed by the military. The army took only ammunition of the airplane to not hit the wrong hands. At the moment the plane is in the same state as in the movie. there is practically no possibility of the devastation of this plane because it is army complex - patrolled by the army.

The plane was found incidentally - do not do the quest.

Must have looked like a pretty safe spot to put it down from the air, but the rock's ripped the bottom of the plane off.

Wonder what became of the pilot?

I have a feeling there was probably a lot more sand covering the area 70 years ago.

I'd have thought landing on such a rocky uneven surface would have done more than twisted a few panels.
