Hi

A couple of months ago I did my CBT and got myself a Honda PCX125 - it was recommended to me.

I love riding, dont regret it for a second - but I'm not sure the PCX was the best choice. I do a 18mile commute each way 3-4 times a week, its mostly down a 50mph road. The PCX is great speed wise, easily keeps up but I find it really uncomfortable after 10 or so mins - I'm 6ft 1. I also find I get blown around a lot and the fuel tank is so small it constantly needs filling up.

I went into the Honda garage and they let me take out a Honda Swing 125 and a Honda SH125. They both felt a lot more comfortable and seem much better... I just don't know which is best for me. I also had a look at a Suzuki Burgman which seemed good.

I was originally going to get a Vespa, but I was warned they aren't good for this kind of commute only short ones, I do like the SH125 as its a bit more like a traditional scooter just not sure if its going to be as comfortable on a 18 mile commute as the Swing.

Any advice really appreciated.

Do you have a full license? If so, the Burgman is a brilliant choice! I have rode pillion on one of them a number of times - very comfortable (I was on it for over an hour with no ass hurtz).

Thumbs Up

He has CBT, its in the first line of his post Rolling Eyes Wink

Did you do the CBT on a geared bike/scoot or auto? If geared plenty of bikes would be a better choice than a scoot for your size.

Burgman is comfy and big, I had a Peugeot Satelis for a short while which was also very big and comfortable and there was a 125 model, but I don't think Pug are making it any more.

Do you want to be able to move your feet around a bit? A proper step through like the SH125 might well be better.

I had a PGO T-Rex 125, which had a very big seat and loads of room, completely reliable, rubbish white dials that I couldn't read at night so had to design and print my own decals. Taiwanese so slight step down in Quality from your Honda.

Hello

I only have my CBT. If it was just about style I would go for a Vespa, I'm more that kind of person than a big bike. But... it also has to be practical... I'm travelling 18 miles each way 3-4 times a week... on the PCX its not the best just because it is damn uncomfy. I'm completely happy with the power.

I basically want a bike that feels pretty much as nippy as the PCX but is comfy, bit more wind protection (I put a windscreen on the PCX but the wind blows up from the bottom), ideally doesn't quite need filling up as much - its only a 6 litre tank.

Why not try out a Vespa then, they've all got decent wind protection for your legs? The closest I got to a Vespa was a Piaggio Liberty, but even that had better wind protection then the PGO.

Not sure who would say Vespas weren't any good for an 18 mile commute, about 20 million Italians use them for exactly that. Smile
