In the same way as a 1000cc bike is faster in all respects than a 400cc and a 125cc bike is faster in all respects than a 50cc bike.

Wierd, I just shook the magic 8 ball on my desk and it said "VFR 400".

Strange, never seen it say that before Twisted Evil

In all seriousness, the 400 is going to be a lot faster. Personally I think it looks better although the RS series are very sexy bikes.

you might want to look into other factors, i.e fuel consumption, insurance costs etc.

VFR400 is obviouslly faster, quicker and more reliable than an RS125. By far.

Id say that the RS 50 is that fastest by far. My mate recons he can get 97mph out of his rs 50. (load of bollox)
hehe. Lil ped bois on their rs50s.
Id say the VFR400 is faster than a RS 125. the RS does 100-110mph, and the VFR400 woud probably do 120-130mph. so its ur choice Wink

ah, the days are gone of giant BMW's with fairings like barn doors.

an R100RT would push just over 100. My dad had one, now he's gone onto a VFR 800, (midlife crisis or something).

fuel consumption depends how you ride them, an rs125 would cost me £7 a day thrashing it and the vfr400 (nc21) costs me £10 so aint to much

but insureance on an rs for a 17yr old with an sp30 1yrs no claims was £1300tpft but the same for a 400 (plus full licence) cost me £400 tpft

and the vfr is alot fast, rs's dont feel fast at all now, and when i first got on an rs125 from a 50 i was buzzing off it. but when i derestricted my vfr there was to much power to handle and it took alot to learn to control it Shocked

trust me vfr400 is by far your better choise.

also 250 2 stroke or 400 4 stroke id say 250's for going out for a good blast but the 400 for everyday use.. Smile

just my 2 cents worth Smile

Very close - I had a GSXR400 whilst my brother had an RS250 and to my mind there was not much in it, although the four stroke is always going to be easier to get the power from as the RS250 has got a small powerband.

not sure, acceleration of the 250 would be better than the 400, but the 400 will have a slightly higher top speed?

You missed one important question m8, which one handles better??????
The RS125

Also the vfr400 aint more reliable, the RS125 is just as reliable if serviced correctly, which is a common mis conception. 2t's have shorter service intervals and if these guidlines are not followed then thats when they become un-reliable.

And to the RS250 vs 400 question, RS250 all the way, especially on the twistys.

As you may tell, im quite a fan of 2t;s Very Happy

the rs125 according to aprillia needs a major engine component replacement after something like 7000km. Someone I met at work decided he knew best, and ignored it. 2 months after, he needed a whole new top end rebuild.

Yes but with your average rider on the road, the VFR400 would have the upperhand due to the power on tap and the way it is delivered.

VFR400 will not need the attention to the engine like the RS125 does (obviously if both are treated correctly) and I would bet all my money on the honda 4 stroke being more reliable than the Italian machine, in all departments Smile

The only major engine component that need replacing after 7000miles is the rings which take under half an hour to do on a 2t engine.

Why is everyone so obsessed with speed??? I know id prefer a good, crisp handling bike than a heavy sluggish one. (im not saying that the vfr is sluggish i was jus making a point)

Have you ever ridden a VFR400? or even a RS125, properley? don't want to offend you but you're opinions on these bikes and the the general view of 125vs bigger bikes seems to be made up from other peoples views Smile

You can't just say X will beat Y, because out on the road there are too many factors that will affect this.

i have ridden a RS125 and a CBR400 which is fairly simular
and can say that to me, the cbr handles alot better than the rs
and it much much much more faster

plus RS125s are as reliable as a paper bag in rain, its just a lottery if its a expenive part breaks or its just a washer

a vfr400 would piss all over an rs125 as would a gsxr400,zxr400 e.t.c

if you mean a full power rs125 on a cat a2 license or a vfr400 restricted to 33 bhp on a cat a2 license

then the vfr400 would still spank the rs125's ass

unless the rs125 had a lot of mods done to it to make it push out 33 b.h.p other than just having the powervalve connected/fitted as they make about 26 de-restricted standard no matter what anyone else tells you

good god a sensible well informed post by me Smile
