I was bored this morning so I was browsing Gumtree and spotted this piece of 2 stroke, greenlane goodness...
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/T0mmy200sx/IMG_20120429_135555.jpg
...Which is now sat in my garden Managed to buy it quick enough that my brain didn't have time to engage and ruin my fun.
It was cheap and I'm expecting a few issues so I'm tinkering with it now to check it's ok then I may take it down some greenlanes this afternoon. Not too bad so far...
No exhaust gasket between the block and the downpipe
Oil leaking from gearbox breather which hopefully is just an overfilled box
Rear wheel bearings shot
Runs a bit lumpy at low revs but very clean higher up
And that's about it. Does need some better tyres though...those will be crap on road AND off road I reckon Probably get some supermoto wheels for it at some point ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Very nice! How cheap is cheap, if you don't mind my asking? ____________________ Willson - "If you go out on that CBR600 in the winter, you're going to do more miles on your side than on your wheels."

I expect I can find the manual somewhere online to save you the bother but if not I may take you up on that
As for the price, a lady never tells but it was good if not much else is wrong with it.
Just insured it so might take it out for a little spin. What's the betting I discover that other thing that's wrong with it I also anticipate it will get dropped by me for the first time within 3 hours of purchasing it as it's going to be very muddy and those tyres are going to be hopeless... ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

I want one How much did you pay? Been inching for a 2smoker again, I keep finding my self looking for DTR 125's, I'm such a tool for selling my old one, was a proper mint, should have been displayed in a museum compared to the state of the ones you find for sale these days ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

those tyres are hopeless - iv got the same on mine
as for the slow running, its common on these for the pilot jet to clog up to the extent that they recommend replacement....... but then i guess they would if they have boxes of em to shift
swingarm spindle is the big problem, see if yours will come out and if it does get some grease in there quick |

It's a MK2 I believe.
Still can't get it going by the way, try a new plug tomorrow. Bit of a pisser as we have a break in the rain On the plus side the oil leak was indeed just an overfilled gearbox and the swingarm bearings are definitely ok. ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

This was my old one, check your kill switch if your having problems starting.
Send me your Email addresss and I'll send you a little CRM info file I made, its also got the full micro fiche for Mk2.2, the parts guy at my local Honda dealer found it on the system, printed every page off and I scanned it in at work. I found that most parts are still avalible from Honda and are cheaper than some of the pattern parts, so always check.
I blew mine up and stripped it for parts so know my way round it. |

Cheers mate I already have the fiche but I'll PM my address for the rest.
Got her going today after sticking in a new plug and did a little bit of exploratory green laning.
Runs well on the throttle but jerks along horrendously if you shut it... ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Thanks for that
The wiring diagram should be particularly handy if my previous experience of cheap old greenlaners is anything to go by ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

CRM's are ace fun and make great road bikes too.
funnily enough i know the odd thing about them - and someone has already mentioned my site crm250.com
balancer shafts can fail, kill switch and side stand contacts, forks rot, too much gear oil they blow it out the back of the engine,
keep the gear oil changed often
cranks can go for over 30k before failure
top ends around 20 - 25k depending on use / abuse.
swingarm pivot bolts seize solid - like proper seize and need cutting out.
the Mk2 and Mk3 are quite capable of around 100mph on the road with the right gearing. the Mk2 looks a bit dated but is very capable.
Mk3 looks more modern but come in some lairy paint schemes.
The AR is the most complicated and the final edition of the CRM and most desirable by many.
I used my AR at oulton park the other week on track - surprised alot of bikes. Granted top speed was a bit limited, but as the superbikes roared past they were on the brakes sat up as you sail past again still on the power and ride around the outside smiling lol.

I signed up on your site already...should be very useful
Quite keen on the supermoto idea but there doesn't seem a particularly cheap way to do it. I should probably concentrate on getting it running perfectly first anyway as there are a few things need doing.
Already finding it quite fun on those tyres by the way, it slides around all over the place. ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

to be honest - dont.
not being funny but the Mk2 just doesnt look right or anything like as smart as the AR with motard wheels.
XR400 wheels fit too, but a set like mine even second hand will be around 4 - 600 quid, then you need the big disk conversion etc etc
it does turn them into a proper road weapon though
Another pic for some food for thought.
