Hi All

I'm thinking of selling my bike privately. Wonder what should I set as asking price. Bike in questions is Yamaha YBR 2011, 600 miles on the clock, 1 year warranty left on it. Never dropped and it still looks like new and ride great - almost new bike. Serviced at 400 miles at Yamaha dealer.

Talked to some dealers and they offer 1500-1600 to take it off my hands.

Would £1900 be reasonable price to ask (gumtree, ebay etc)??

Plan is this would sponsor my lessons and test to get full bike license and bigger bike.

Thanks

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/bikes/yamaha/ybr/postcode/ub81ab/radius/1500/maximum-age/up_to_1_year_old/cc-to/125cc/sort/default

Your price seems fair, although you'll have to discount when you do the deal and pay fees of ~£50. Which could leave you with ~£1750 so the question is whether all the potential hassles are worth ~£150?

I think you've had a good offer from the dealer, maybe you could push them up by another £50?

Very good price for a dealer. I'd rip his hand off considering you can find used private ones for £1400-£1600.

Get it in and sold very fast.

The thing is I need to most of it. Money from the sell will go towards cost of full license and bike - more money I have more big bike I can buy.

Don't mind selling it on my own - and gumtree and local ads are cheap or free - so no big cost, ebay probably last option.
Might put it on gumtree, as fishing expedition and see what I can catch.

Thanks guys

I don't think you'll get that price privately.

The £1600 from a dealer is spanking. Genuinely amazed, I may need to sell them my bike Laughing

Heck, slap it on Gumtree at your desired price, then when you get bored of scammers and fantasists wasting your time, you know where the dealer is.

just sold mine privately for £1700 2011 with 3k on the clocks to a friend, dealer offered me £1400. You can get a much better price from private if you're prepared to wait around a bit. Any of your friends looking to start biking?

Thanks Tom,

Thats my point, even If I will get 1800 it is still 200 more for new bike, for me this is big difference.

Unfortunately not, but will again ask around, u never know.

Just wonder do it know or wait for more sunny days - spring so far is crap - today sun, but later in week rain again.

Anyway not in hurry really.

Could go with with the free sites (Gumtree etc), but in my experience (bikes and cars) they take a lot longer to shift if you get the price wrong.

Personally I'd go with the dealer offer, at the moment they seem to be offering silly money for 125's, presumably cashing in on the glut of people trying to get tested before 2013.

And again (very generally) people who are getting on bikes for the first time will be more inclined to buy a first bike from a dealer, with the perceived protection that gives.

If you've got time to waste then chuck it on Gumtree for a few weeks, if not take the dealer price now.

Rich.

Chuck it on ebay with a reserve of what you can get from the dealer, I reckon you would get more if you go private.
If I were you I'd probably only consider giving it to the dealer if there is a bike in there you want, then they can take it part exchange Thumbs Up
