Hi guys,

Just wanted to know, because my CBT runs out in August, and im in no financial position to sit my bike tests right now, if i did so later on & it clashed with my CBT renewal (say i took mod 1, then my CBT was up) would I still have to renew CBT before the mod 2?
Id have thought so, but just making sure!

If I recall you have to do your Mod 2 before your CBT expires, or you have to do both Mod 1 and the Theory again.

If you're in a financial position to retake a CBT, surely you're in a financial position to do your tests? Especially as it sounds like you've done your theory already.

Im not really in a position to renew my CBT at the moment to be honest. Im just hoping I will be again before August. Havnt taken my theory yet

Fair enough, well I can't really advise on your original question but I know that the mod 1 certificate is valid until 2 years after your theory pass. So I don't see why the CBT would affect it, given that all the CBT does is validate your provisional licence. I would email the DSA if I were you.

Exactly, which is why you need a CBT at the time you sit both Mod 1 and Mod 2 - you need to have a valid provisional license!

If you can run a 125, you can afford to pass your tests on it. £121.50 plus petrol money and time for the whole shooting match. £31 for theory, £15.50 for Mod 1, then completing Mod 2 for £75 will be cheaper than re-taking a CBT. Get it done.

Well clearly, but why would a theory pass and mod 1 pass certificate become invalid because the provisional licence expires? The moment you resit the CBT, you have a valid licence again so the certificates should still be valid. IMO worth emailing the DSA over this.
