Dog with a collar spycam is a better deterrant.

If you want it to be 'useful security' I think you really need the motion detection connected to something that alerts you - text, email etc.

Otherwise you'll have some high def pictures of some 'hoodies' taking your bike. Which doesn't really get you very far generally.

Nice, nice.

This is what I mentioned elsewhere, setting up a webcam CCTV isn't that complicated!

With a wireless webcam you could just use your main desktop...dunno what wireless webcams are decent though

Then you need to get them so you have very few false positives.

Me, I'd consider my 'alerting' mechanism to be something right next to the bike or access to the bike, with a camera covering it.
That way, hopefully you can legitimately (police or your mates won't be happy to go running find it was a cat walking past) call some kind of quick-response to get to it to sort out anyone there.

To whom? "Some lad has told us there's pikeys prodding at his bike" will be slightly below "New tin of biscuits opened in the canteen" in your local Constabulary's priorities.

Security means stopping the thing being nicked in the first place. What you're setting up is a "How my bike got nicked while nobody did nothing about it" YouTube video.
