Posted: 21:16 - 30 Apr 2012 Post subject: Can I get another track day out of this? |
 |
|
Posted this in racing & track days but haven't had a response yet and am looking to book in the next couple of days so thought I would put it in here:
Reckon this will last a track day at Rockingham before I replace it? Thinking about doing the one on Sunday 13th May if anyone's up for it?
Did one at Mallory Park the other day and the track was covered in standing water in a lot of places and it didn't feel that bad at all!
The sides of it are fine but the middle of it is pretty bald from wheelies and attempting the odd one when the tires weren't warm enough or it was too wet and it has spun up.

I do lean it when I get the chance to...often busy with traffic on the way to work so can't
Why not ride it on the road like that? ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92

If you're going down the sports touring tyre route try the 023's as well.
I've got a set on mine and if I was about over the next few weeks I'd say you're welcome to come have a go on my bike and see what you think of them but sadly I'm at uni for another month or so.
They should last me 10k though, and are very good in the wet, dry, cold, damp etc so a good all round tyre.
I looked at the PR3's instead, they're fantastic in the wet apparently but there are better options for the dry.... perhaps I should have gone for them seeing as I live in wales whilst at uni
Probably best to replace it tbh. You might hit the canvas in the middle and then you'll have to get it changed at the track which narrows your tyre choice massively and it can also be quite expensive. ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Decided to just rinse the end of this tyre and replace it for the track day, just ordered the pilot road 3 after reading the reviews the weather was just to nice to ride slow and save the tyre when I came out of work!
May have to do a cheeky burn out to finish it off if paddy at the garage let's me do it down there. ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92
