SV650S Fork seals.

Hi guys,

I've had a fork seal go on my SV650S (2000) and need a bit of advice!
I've found some cheaper fork seals at this link, are these any good? I've had the originals recommended but at nearly 65 quid it's more than I can afford at the moment.
Also, with regards to fork oil, I've seen another post at this link. What's the best weight of fork oil to put in there? The front suspension is really soft at the moment and there's no adjustment on them.

10w oil is standard for your forks mate

I really wouldn't buy budget fork seals - they don't tend to last anywhere near as well as proper ones.

Thicker oil will slow down the compression and rebound.Thinner oil speeds it up.

Thats the easiest way i can explain it to you mate.But the one i quoted is the factory standard for your bike.

I've just bought some of those Pyramid ones for my hornet, mainly because all the bearings and things I've got from them in the past have been good.

I'll let you know how they last.

Garth: Mine's pissing fairly badly now so I'll go with those and see what happens. I'm doing it with some help from my old man so if they're crap then it's only 15 quid and a few more hours in the shed!

Cheap seals will need replacing as soon as you hit a speed bump.

£62.14 for original seals (from Wemoto at least) and that's oil and dust seals, I can't afford that much at the moment (I'm seriously brassic and need to buy other bits too) If they do go again too soon you can all happily point and say "I told you so!" .

Thinking about it, these were (apparently) replaced when I got the bike in June last year, that said I did hit a mighty big pothole a couple of weeks ago.

They're a bit cheaper at Robinson's Foundry. Not much, but a few quid's difference.

Skint or no, you really, really will wish that you'd shelled out for the real thing.

I know Nikone seals have bad reviews, pyramid seem to be better though.

Mine are being fitted, bit late for me, I'll wait and see.
