So, had my mod 2 today in wigston, got really nervous for it, as soon as I got out on the road, realised it was nothing to worry about. Kept up my observation, lifesavers, watched my speed, didnt forget any indicator's.
Pulled up to a roundabout, went to pull away, shit I'm in 2nd, stall and shot forward, knew immediately that I'd failed. Carried on riding as normal. Got back to test centre and other than the serious fault, I'd made three minors, all observation, mostly no right shoulder check when turning right from major to minor road.

Anyway, gonna bounce right back and book it again asap, I know I can do this now.
For anyone that's worrying it is as everyone says, just like going for a fun ride on your own for 30-40 mins

Bugger, bad luck. If you'd been on a 500, you'd probably have got away with that. Wink

You suck donkey cock, you are not worthy to share the road with... etc

But seriously, unlucky chap. If you know you are in second, just pull away slipping it out with some revs, Did that myself and no minor for it.
Suck it up and get back on it Thumbs Up

The bonus is that you know you can fix the problem that caused you to fail, as the rest of your riding is fine. Thumbs Up

I dont think he failed for stalling, he failed for shooting forward somehow, loss of control.

Pretty sure you can stall, as long as you have control and dont panic, away you go etc.

Yeah, you can pass Module 2 with a stall. Shhh!
It was definitely the lurch forward that was the serious fault, but it seems a bit harsh, unless you jumped into traffic and made someone else react to your movement.
Still, better luck next time! At least you won't be as nervous and can concentrate on the ride, and will have that much more clutch/revs control. I agree that if you were on a bigger bike, it wouldn't have had a problem pulling away in 2nd gear.
All the best!

Sorry to hear mate

Is there a list what is counted as major fault? Failing for stalling or forgetting to cancel indicator - that can happen to experience raider. I stalled car few times even after driving more than 10 years.

I imagine it's dependant on each individual case.

Stalling in and of itself isn't a fail... stalling and the bike shooting forward onto a roundabout/out of a junction etc probably will be.

Leaving an indicator on might be a minor if it does not cause any issues, but if you have a car pull out of a side road in front of you cos you're left indicator is still on, then that might be a fail

Think it's usually a fail if you leave your indicator on and go past side-roads that other drivers could believe you were turning down. If you're lucky and notice before you go past any side-roads, you're ok. This is what an examiner told me in the Oxford area anyway - it's possible it could vary.

Or for bonus points when you do notice, keep the indicator on and take the next left

The fail was for shooting out at the roundabout, not necessarily into traffic as it was clear, but by the time I'd started the engine and changed gear the gap was gone and I was still forward.

I know its possible to pull away in second, just that I didn't realise I was in second.
All I can think off how I managed it was, I must have thought I was in fourth, so clicked down 3 gears as I approached the junction, but I was actually in fifth.

If this was marked down as a minor then you were lucky!
Most examiners would consider missing the final lifesaver before a major to minor right turn as a serious or dangerous fault.
Try and get those lifesavers nailed down for next time.
