Not enough to buy one of these if that is what you are getting at:

I'm 18. (just to note)

Well I only just got a job after turning 16, and after 2 years of working part time, I still wouldn't be able to afford a car. My parents earn enough for us to live comfortably with a few delicacies, but nothing special. Meaning I have to pay for everything to do with vehicles, insurance and all that. Now somehow I don't think I see myself being able to afford one of them at 16, unless Daddy somehow comes into a lot of money.

Hope that helps...

There is only one car that I would personally recommend that is new my friend has one and they have amazing fuel economy, keeps up with traffic easy enough. Good on the spacial side of things as well, however wouldn't purchase one brand new (he did cash in hand at 18).

Toyota Aygo @£8535

SEAT Marbella

Cost £3,000 new in 1987.

Depending on what version you went for:

843cc 4 Speed gearbox = 35hp and 78mph
903cc 5 speed gearbox = 40hp and 81mph. And a hell of a quieter ride on the motorways I bet.. I wished for a 5 speed just so I could hear myself think..

It must be possible to produce a crappy cheap slow 2 seater for under £4k retail.

Not sure how many people would spend even that when they could wait a year, spend £1k on a decentish 5 door.

Don't know I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future the torys bring in a legislation allowing 16year olds to drive cars like that but giving them a maximum engine requirement. Especially considering how the European legislation is regarding motorbikes.

The car was a good buy in my opinion with no other named drivers he has paid £2k insurance fully comp for his first year (2 years ago).

Regarding this part above think you would be looking more into concept cars then or moped styled cars.

The suzuki S-Ride comes to mind or any electric car especially as you would be screwed for charging them on the go at the moment so the 16year old wouldn't get far at all

A: £1500 - £2000.

Unless the 16yr old happens to live in the Isle of Man where 16yr olds can hold a full car licence.

Nothing. My arse couldn't take that much of a rogering from the insurance companies.

I was getting quotes of over £6000 at 17 for a 850cc car that could barely exceed 80mph.

Isn't this just going to depend vastly on how well off (and irrational) said 16 year old is?

Your market is basically limited to 16 year olds with bloody well off parents, how the hell else would they buy one? Paper round?

It's like asking - how much would a homeless person pay for a hostel room. Well, I'm sure they'd pay £1000 if they had it, but they don't.

Seems like a stupid question to be asking IMO.

1/ WHAT has this got to do with Bikes?
2/ How many Chav 16 year-olds on council clearing estates are running around on brand new Peugot Speed-Fighters? Becouse £2000 doesn't seem THAT expensive, compared to the 'parenting placebo's the kids get every year by way of the latest games console, sterio sytstem, high end mountain bike, and £70 trainers so that THIER kids dont get snubbed in the play-ground?
3/ WHAT has this got to do with BIKES?

If that is the case then it won't work spend £700 and you can be on the road within the day on a moped with helmet and bike if you are lucky. For the same equivalence on a car you are looking at about £4/3.5k seriously even the moped users have that much sense.

He has an implant its more like £250 every two weeks I've seen it go into his account and when you are young and don't have any bills then yes its a good wedge. Especially considering its for life as long as he doesn't have a disability car.
