Well Mrs D walked the two dogs today, when she came back she told me she'd been talking to a friend of hers, and that she's heard two people near us have had their dogs poisoned in the last week, (We've had this confirmed now).
Now there's a bloke lives a couple of hundred yards from us, he's had a go at me once before when one of my dogs cocked his leg up and pissed near his gate. Apparently the bloke has had a go at some others too (fair enough if they aren't clearing up after the dogs, which we always do).
But then a week or so later, I was walking up past the guys house, and there were some pieces of Mars bar on the pavement, it just looked odd as the pieces had clearly been cut. My two obviously went to try get them, but I pulled them back.
The bloke was in his garden, watching.
I held my two dogs back, and kicked the bits of Mars bar into the gutter and down a drain. Then looked over to him. I knew, just fucking knew from the look on his face that he's put the bits of chocolate there, (probably poisoned). And the bastard knew that I knew, he pissed of inside right quick, (I called after him, he certainly heard me but didn't turn round).
Now I tried the RSPCA today, and haven't even been able to get through to them at all, also called our optimistically titled "neighbourhood policing team" who were less than helpful, (quite a lot less actually).

Ideas?

I thought about posting him a Mars bar, with a not very nicely worded note wrapped round it, to the effect that if there's any more of it, he's going to lose the use of his legs.

People are sick of other people's dogshit left laying everywhere. Not the dogs' fault, it's the owners who should be given a good hard kicking. God knows I've handed out some serious grief over the years to the sub-human scum.

Quite common this. There's been a few cases up here especially around the beach areas where people are obviously leaving their dog shit on the beach.

Just hearsay, obviously...

But when someone was shooting cats with their air rifle regularly in a neighbourhood close to here, they apparently ended up getting battered late at night by a couple of people who forced their way into his house.

Couldn't speak for the legalities of it, but I've heard that there were no further incidents of cats being shot after that Thumbs Up

Fair enough, it pisses me off too, that's why I've got plastic bags in every pocket when I take them out.

Doesn't give cunts an excuse to poison the dogs though.

I am in no way approving of dog poisoning but if someone doesn't like dogs, letting them piss and shit right outside of their property and not cleaning it up is asking for trouble.

If I found out for sure it was him, dogshit outside his house would be the very least of his worries.

You know fine well it was him. The question is: what are you going to do about it?

Unfortunately the answer to that will most likely be, make it worse. I'd be inclined to put my dog shit through his letter box. However I can't see that making this situation any better.

I understand the need to clean up dog shit, but how the fuck do you clean up dog piss? I mean seriously, do people actually do this? I certainly dont. Shocked

You can't rally clean up dog piss, however I carry one of those water bottles with a foldy down bowl thing on it. If the dog happens to piss in a doorway or somewhere where the smell would be an annoyance, then a quick swill to water down is better than nothing.

We had a bloke come out of his house and have a go at me whilst I was picking up a nice firm dog poo from the PUBLIC grass area outside his house! I said dog's have to poo, he said can't they do it in our own garden. I said they do. He said can't you drag them into the gutter when they go. I said yeah right, 7 stone dog, not likely. He said his kids play out there and it's disgusting and I'm a fucking ignorant prick. I walked away.
I bet he's responsible for someone I heard saying a local dog had been poisoned. Arsehole.

Why mars bar though? Grapes are much more inconspicuous, and naturally poisonous to dogs so untraceable.

A very common occurrence over here.
It's a national sport, that and ripping off tourists. Rolling Eyes
The poison of choice is "Lanate", a pesticide that was banned for sale a few years ago. The useless authorities warned the poisoners so they just stocked up!!!!
30+ cats died, overnight, one weekend last year, FFS.
It's so prevalent here, that sooner or later, a child will die!

If you're sure it's the guy you mention, wait around until more "bait" appears and make sure he sees you bagging it up and tell him you're going to have it tested.

The vets over here have antidotes, but with Lanate you only have about 1 minute to administer it. Ask your vet if he can supply you with a vomit kit for your dogs, should give you enough time to get them to the vets.

I really don't know what I'd do if my wee dog was poisoned.
If I knew for certain who'd done it, there would definitely be violence involved and if there was more poison around I'd be doing a bit of force feeding!

Well no he can't, especially if he's poisoning them first.

He can't have an exclusion zone round his house either.

And this.

Always carry a fair few poo bags even though my little mutt only ever dumps once while we're out so I'd be damned sure to pick up any suspect 'bait' and inform plod.
I pretended to video a bloke not picking up after his dog once, as soon as he'd clocked me, he pretended to pick it up! Laughing

The right thing first, give plod a chance to earn their money for once.

After that, we'll see.

If you see any more bits of suspicious Mars bar, photograph it in situ with an easily identifiable feature (dudes house) in the pic. Get a dogshitbag and pick it up then contact the RSPCA. If you can't get through on the phone go down to their local drop in centre. If no joy from them try the police again but I doubt they would do much as its a civil matter.

Chocolate itself is poisonous for dogs although I doubt there is enough on a Mars bars to do any damage.

If I were you I would then have some fun with Mars bars. Not that kind of fun, you weirdo! Buy a multipack of the things, chop one into bits and post it through his door at random intervals. Does he have a car? Let down each tyre, chuck away the dust caps then replace them with chunks of Mars bar. Replace all the leaves on one of his plants with the wrappers. Get a large cardboard box, fill it with those packing peanuts and one lone funsize Mars bar and post it to him.

Or you could just kick him in the bollocks and tell him you will insert a Mars up his arse if he pulls that shit again?

Poisoning dogs is obviously abhorrent and unjustified.

That said, I have to agree with some of the other posters.
If someone's dog decided to piss all over my fence, I'd be pretty pissed off.

"You can walk wherever you like" - lol?
I can put up a sign across my windows saying 'dodgydog is a dick face". Doesn't mean that's something a decent human being would do.

Sounds like something that can be sorted out amicably by just, not walking near, really.

Unless you want to stir shit that is.

But by the looks of things this is a pavement outside a house. Is it really a question of shit stirring or just wanting to use a public right of way?
I understand this guys frustration at people not cleaning up after their dogs but it seems to me that he's not bothered who's dogs die, as long as he sorts out the irresponsible owners.

It wont be sorted out by not going there, other dogs still will walk there.

Next time you walk past make it blatently obvious that you know whats going on. Doubt the police will do anything and the RSPCA probably havnt got the resources to look into it. Its going to come down to what will YOU do.

Basing it on this:

I'd warn anyone in the neighbourhood that I knew had a dog, yeah, but at the end of the day, why cause yourself undue hassle?

The guy is obviously a nutcase, do you want to cause trouble with someone who is willing to kill people's pets?

Path of least resistance IMO.
