Yesterday I was riding down a fairly busy road at the limit of 40mph, saw one of those Peugeot Partner Vans right up my arse, checked my mirrors a few seconds later and he had put his indicator on to overtake, only when there is an XC90 coming the other way! He overtook me so close our mirrors knocked!

I followed him round a few roundabouts, aiming to give him a piece of my mind the next time he stopped, but when we got onto a residential street he kept stopping dead in front of me, then started ragging it at 50 around a housing estate! In the end I thought better of it and drained a fag when I got to work.

I've had stupid drivers, but this was something else! What really annoys me is that if he'd have been 10cm closer he would have hit my handlebars and probably knocked me off!

Idiots. They think that because they spend all day driving they know better than everyone else on the road.

Were you driving at 40mph, or were you driving with your speedo showing 40mph?

It would have been worth getting his number plate - if your vehicles touched there may well have been a case for "leaving the scene of an accident" to get him done by the police.

Finally - bike riders do this to car drivers daily.

Sounds like you were going too slow - As G said - your speedo is probably out, and the van driver think why is this bike doing 30 in a 40 FFS

It's infuriating, but without video evidence or independent witnesses, there's not much you can do to get the mentals off the road.

If you're not prepared to kick off, then just pull over and let him get stuck behind the car in front of you.

G has a point. The amount of bikers who hit car mirrors while filtering every day is a lot. Although he could have nocked you off.

Theres nothing you could really do about it. Just have to live knowing that some people are impatient pricks and dont care about anyone elses safety. Even if you where only doing 30 in a 40 zone, it doesnt mean that someone should overtake like that just because they want to be where there going 30 seconds sooner.

A lot of car drivers get pretty scared with bikers filtering too- they worry that a slight movement and they'll have them off etc.

Sure you can say "but they won't be the ones on the floor" and the like - but that doesn't mean it doesn't worry them, quite possibly more than most bikers are worried about it themselves.

Can you believe the audacity of this?

I was scooting through Lahndahn on my BMW 'World Lapping' bike a couple of years ago passing cnuts in vans, trucks, cars & cetera. Filtering as I always do and with my Furniture Removal Van panniers on-board too.
Some cunt on a scabby courier bike almost had me off when he/she screamed passed about 2" off my RH bar when I had to stop behind a bus.
I don't filter on the wrong side of the road into the path of on-coming traffic. (This is simply overtaking.) but it seems it is the thing to do in Lahndahn and around most cities.
It is wrong, it is against the law and very likely to cause injury or accident/s.
If there is a reasonable gap in traffic then by all means pass but don't commit/attempt suicide just to save a few minutes.

Ive taken off my fair share of car wing mirrors for being asshole drivers.

I think it was Joe who got off the worst as the wing mirror that came off clattered him in the chest behind.

This is about about 6-7 years ago now, young and stupid Razz
