morning all

working on my CG last night, i noticed a quite bad oil leak from behind the genny

im taking the engine out tonight so will be removing the genny at some point to check points etc

any ideas how would could be causing the leak?

im guessing its a crankshaft oil seal?, this is my first bike so im treating it like a huge learning curve

does it sound bad??

probably worn seal, clean it up, then run the engine and see exactly where oil leak is developing from

cmnsl dont go back far enough for my bike 84/ 85 so i cant see.

i think i will just try an open the case when i get a chance to get the engine out

im just worried that as soon as i open it, it will all just fall to bits

If you're going to strip your engine down anyway watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNX1Im0CBhc&feature=related

That should be more or less the same as your points engine. Since it's not in English just read along with your Haynes and you will see how simple it is to rebuild.
