I've got a total of about 2 hours riding experience, I went to a local place for an assessment, he basically said my road stuff is OK and will be fine once he's sorted my awful bike control Very Happy

Stuff like not using brakes and using gears to slow down too much (got another thread on that), grabbing at brakes when I use them, not showing obs (I was doing them), basically lots of car traits I need to get out of.

He reckons 5x 3 hr lessons:
Lesson 1: 125 control
Lesson 2: swap from 125 to 500
Lesson 3: 500 Module 1 practice
Lesson 4: Module 1 test
Lesson 5: Module 2 test

Total £640.

Haven't been to any other places, as he seems like a good bloke; passed the personality test. Also it's reet close to the nearest test centre, so should be able to practice on the roads that I currently don't know!
Just wanted some ideas on what people paid, how many days they did, what sort of training was it etc?

I paid £650 for CBT, 1x day on a 125, 2x day on 500 (mod1/2 practice) and then did mod 1 and 2 tests in the same morning

Test fees all included

3 days one-to-one training for Mod 1 and 2. Fourth day boths mods with practice either side. Grand total= £640

I had been riding for nearly nine months prior to beginning the training and felt it was not only a means to pass but learn a whole lot at the same time...and kick some bad habits from my L Plate phase.

Sounds about right then, that's good.

I thought I was better than he suggested, just have to see how quickly I progress.

I haven't been in for an assessent but my local place was fairly confident in offering me 2.5 days for DAS - I told them I'd not ridden for a fair while.

My schedule is looking a bit like this (next month):

One day full training
Half day (a few hours plus Mod 1)
Full day (Mod 2 in the afternoon)

Job done. I've been with the same outfit for CBT and car lessons and they've been top notch so far so we'll see how it goes.

Mine is £495, but that's in East Yorkshire.

I paid about the same a few years ago (probs a bit cheaper, but not too much in it).

It seems you live pretty close to me. I can recommend 1st Castle if you're looking for schools..

Give us a yell if you fancy a wander out some time.. (might be able to persuade Pinky to come out to play too).

Schools in east Sussex offer from 300 (2 days training) to max 650 - differences between schools and amount of training days. But mostly around £400 (ex CBT, inc test fees).

I thought about them, but when I asked them about the GetOn scheme they told me it would be about 15 mins, and I'd be better off booking a CBT straight out and they'd give me £10 off - that put me off them.
The place I'm looking at is cbtsouthampton, they have a place in Gosport near the ferry, which is 2 mins from the Lee-On-Solent test centre. Handy place to learn methinks.
Will be interested in meeting ups once I'm passed, don't really like the idea of tagging along on me 125 behind proper bikers Very Happy Hopefully I'll be passed before end of June - just hope I don't have to end up selling the bike to pay for it Sad .

I paid 615 for cbt, theory, a day mod 1 training, a morning to ride to the mod 1 centre for it to be canceled (the test) then a morning for the test (failed) then another morning when I passed mod 1 - these on a er-5 then 1 day mod 2 training on er-6 n and a morning and the test.

I think I got a lot for the money

Lessons 1 & 2. 125cc - £90 x 2
Lessons 3 & 4. 650cc - £110 x 2
Lesson 5 & MOD1. 650cc - £110
Lessons 6, 7 & MOD2. 650cc - £110 x 2

2 days on 125.
5 days on 650, including both Mod1 and Mod2

Total £730, plus theory/Mod1/Mod2, ballpark £850.

Good thing about my instructor was he only wanted paying per lesson on the day, a lot of training schools seem to want +/- £1k paid UP FRONT for DAS.

These lessons were 10am-6pm as well, with 2 or 3 30minute breaks and about 45 mins for lunch, so around 5-6 hours riding every day.

I pay £25 p/h

So far:

1 Lesson on my 125 to asses skills = £20
1 Lesson on 500 = £25
2 Lessons on Mod 1 training = £50
1 Lesson on Mod 1 training (I asked for this lesson) + Mod 1 + Travel time there and back =£65.50
1 Lesson Mod 2 training (I asked for this lesson = £25
1 2hr lesson Mod 2 training = £50
Mod 2 + Travel time there and back = £105.50

Grand Total = £341

Taking away the lessons I asked for, it would of been £291.

I've purposely stayed away from the "Pay X amount" up front type of schools. If you have 125 experience already, I would look for a "pay by the hour" school.

I've just booked my DAS.
Did an assesment on Thursday - about 20 min on my 125 and then he took me out on his cbf600 for about 1/2 an hour - all free.

Charges £20 per hour for time spent on the 600.

Got a 1 hour practice session for mod1 on the DSA training ground a few days before the test and then a few hours before mod2 to get to know the area.
Provided I pass mod 1&2 first time it's costing me £330 all in including test fees. Cool

Mod 1 booked for 28th of May & mod 2 on the 6th of June. Very Happy

Put it in perspective- these are 3 hour lessons!

For around the same money you can gett a full 5/6 day DAS course (thats all day training) with CBT, theory, test fees included.

Where is the Mod 2 training within all this?

Your £640 seems expensive. Shop around.

Paid £561 for mine (test fee's included) but was over 3 weeks, which was better for me because I didnt need to book a week off work, just the odd day. CBT was £125 and done 5 months before booking DAS.

Saturday - 125 roadride training 9am-4pm
Sunday - 500 mod 1 run through training 2.30-4.30
Wednesday - 500 mod 1 training with test in the afternoon 9am-4pm
3 weeks later - Mod 2 training then test in the afternoon 9am-4pm

Was quite happy to pay that price considering the other training school about 5 miles in the opposite direction wanted about £720
