Hi everyone,

just got an sv650 last week with a datatool s4 red installed. As I can see in other topics, I have the same problem as most of the owners, the alarm goes off randomly, or the sensor has been set to a too sensitive setting. I went through the manuals, and found the instructions how to change pin, then go to software switches and then tinker with the engineering switches.

But I have issues with the first step already, with the PIN resetting, which should go like this:

1. Dis-arm system with remote (grey button)
2. Put in key and switch following combination all with-in 7 seconds after completing step 2.a, [note: no need to activate motor]
2.a. Switch ignition ON
2.b. Switch ignition OFF
2.c. Switch ignition ON within 5 seconds of step 2.b
2.d. within ten seconds of step 2.c, Press Grey and Black Buttons simultaneously on remote for just a second (the alarm should make a beep sound)

I am following these steps, pushing both buttons at step 2d, but nothing happens. The self-check is a bit delayed after I turn on the ignition the 2nd time, but there's no beeping sound at all if I push the two buttons. If I keep holding the two buttons for loads of seconds, there's one small beep after about 10 seconds, but if I turn off the ignition, the alarm turns on with the increasingly beeping sound.

I guess there's something I am missing here, there must be a small thing that has to be done specifically / properly timed? I was trying the whole stuff with the key initially being in place, but I guess that can be the issue...

Cheers

Not touched one of these in years but it may not have a PIN set up. That or you need to ground a wire as well.
