I have an electric bike with a hub powered by three 12v 12Ah batteries which adds to 36v because they are wired in series. I recently replaced the batteries and charger and began charging last night. The charge still isnt done and now it's almost evening. How long will it take to fully charge 36v battery with a 1.5A charger?

assuming you're using a charger designed to charge 36V batteries, something like 12 hours (assuming its a basic constant current type one)

If you're using an ordinary car charger then it won't work unless you take each battery out and do it individually

12 Ah means 12a for one hour, or one amp for 12hour.
Thats the capacity, in or out, so each battery at 1.5amp, would take roughly nine hours.
Put them together, split charge between them, they each get 1/2 amp, thats going to be 24 hours...
ASSUMING that you have a charger pumping enough volts into them to actually make them charge, as said.
If you have a 12v charger and are trying to charge the three in series, NOT going to happen, wach one will only have 4v at most across its terminals, so it wont have the electromotive force to get charge past the 12v on the terminals, and you COUD actually be 'discharging' them, the battery pumping charge OUT into the charger until the voltages balence out!
Think of it like trying to fill a balloon with water... if the pressure in the baloon is higher than in the tap, water ent going to go in.
Turn the tap up, water will go in quick. until the pressure equalises, then it will stop going in.
