Hiyoshi dam, near Kyoto if I remember rightly. Thats the view down from the dam itself. No, I have no idea why the engineers access road has a bloody great circle in it either Smile

It's actually quite an interesting structure, one of Japans first modern 'earth' dams as opposed to their form of rolled concrete.

Perhaps it has to be circular in case two wide vehicles need to use it from each side at the same time, they could always go to the left like a roundabout, and there would be no crashes...

Having thought about that they could have just built a wide straight bridge...

On a serious note maybe there was no straight barriers, so with a few hundred bent ones they just made do with those instead.
