Does anyone know the current tint % you're aloud? Also, how much would one cost? I have this helmet:

Don't know about percentages, but there are normally two types of tint; light tint (legal) and dark tint (illegal).

I just bought a dark tint visor from here ( www.racevisors.co.uk/ ) and it cost me about £40. Not sure about HJC though.

You dont need to go for a tinted plastic visor. There are also special visor strips that stick on to the inside of your visor and make it appear tinted.These are what i use. They can be taken off and stuck on many times over and only cost £10 for a pack of 3. Up to you though Thumbs Up

Get a dark visor and carry a clear one and even if you are stopped you will be OK. Just don't have a small numberplate and load exhaust as well...

must have 50% light in. black visors let only 18% of light in. make sure you have a spare clear visor, that way you won't get nicked for it! Laughing

I tried the black inserts once and couldn't get them to fit my Arai right.So i gave up and carried on using my black visor with a clear one to hand so i can change if needed or if i get stopped.Most cops i've met don't go too mad over black visors especially if you have the clear one with you.

I think that the limit is 70% transmission, therefore visors must only have a 30% tint. Anyway, i have lost interest in visor inserts as i find that they tend to be a pain in the arse after a while. I'm trying to get an irridium visor for my HJC AC10 from racevisors.com, but i don't think it's the correct season to be doing it anyway in the first place. BTW, do visor companies have stands at bike shows, i.e. Ally Pally because i may want to buy one there instead.

I had to take my black visor off my dainese ergon, so I've been riding visorless for the last week or so until my cleary arrives. The safety/legal nazi (father) insisted I take it off. He's right though, I really could do without being stopped for the sake of a new £20 visor. (Which he very kindly paid for).

Anyway, a visor has to let through 50% of light to be legal, but under that visor you can wear any kinda of shades you want to.

If you only had a black visor then yes, he is right. However, I would suggest that you do wear the dark one when its bright and carry the clear with you.
