Old rules still apply as long as you pass your test before 2013.

4 Year wait?

As far as I know that doesn't come into play till 2013.

How old are you?

As long as you pass your A2 test before 2013 (CBT, Theory, Mod1 and Mod2) then you are on your merry way.

If you're under 21 when you pass that you will be restricted to 33BHP.

Thumbs Up

Eh? So you turn 17 soon right.. If you don't pass by 2013 then you are shafted as far as I can see.

Sounds like you'll be collared by the new rules then unfortunately - CBT isn't a licence as such, it just validates your provisional licence.

By reading your first post I assume that you are 17 later this year?

You can take your A2 test at 17 but I believe you will be restricted to 33hp for 2 years. But you'll need to act quick before the new rules come in.

Good Luck Thumbs Up

you cant do A2 until you turn 17, as it has to be done on a a bike of 121 - 125cc and you cant ride one at 16.

all you can do at this point in time is a full moped licence ie up to 50cc

if you're 17 before the year ends and if you get an A2 pass before the new rules come in to force, you will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, after that you will have an unrestricted licence.

Hi, I've just seen your PM.

Yes, you're good to go. Sit (and pass) the "standard" tests on a 125cc bike as soon as you can once you hit 17. Really, don't hang around, there's going to be loads of people trying to cram in a pass before they get shagged next January.

Once you pass, you'll have an A license that lets you ride anything as long as it doesn't make more than 25kW (naturally or restricted) and not more than 0.16kW/kg (which really only rules out a few very light offroad bikes).

2 years after you pass, that restricted just vanishes, no more tests, and you can ride anything you like.

where do you get 4 years from?

once you pass the test on a 125cc you can ride ANY bike up to 33bhp, 125cc are more often than not under 11 or 12bhp bar a few

there's a lot of bikes out there under 33bhp, or you can get the 650 and restrict it down to 33bhp.

your not stuck on any kind of 125 for any anount of time, unless you want to just get a 125 and keep it for 4 years

17 year olds who miss the chance to pass before January 2013 will be stuck on 11kW 125s until they hit 19 and pass the new A2, then have to wait another 2 years to pass full A.
