[UPDATE SPOILER] Will probably just use a satnav and damn the Constabulary's eyes.

Not for me, for workmate's Hyosung. While the Electro-wizards pore over his digital dash unit and try to bring it back to life, we're looking for a cheap, (barely) legal speedo solution.

There are loads of cheapo sensor driven bicycle speedos around, but they're battery powered, only go to 99kph (his bike is red), smallish, and not backlit.

Does anyone know of the same sort of thing but without those limitations, i.e. lit, 12v, and capable of registering red-bike speeds? A cursory Google doesn't find anything, so I throw it open to the brain trust.

Where does colour come into it Question Confused He wants a red one to match his bike?

Colour comes into it because of a common misconception that red is the fastest colour. You should try a yellow bike, you will impregnate every woman within earshot Thumbs Up .

As for the speedo, most universal electronic speedos come in somewhere around £100+ so it might be cheaper to just buy a used original speedo. Also, given that the bike is red, have you checked to see if a milk float speedo will fit?

If it is temporary just use a £5-10 push bike speedo.

Roundup answers:
Budget is as little as possible, since the original instruments might be savable.

However, they might not, so this might be a long term bodge.

Satnav is an interesting option, I hadn't thought of that. Thumbs Up
[UPDATE] and he has an old one spare. Double Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Legally, I believe that speedo is as speedo does. As it's not my bike, I can't be arsed checking the regs though. Very Happy

[UPDATE] Of course I was going to check the regs, I'm kidding nobody. Rolling Eyes

Of course it is. Being a Hyosung i'd recommend a good savage with a large hammer.

Di Blasi folding peds come with digital pushbike speedo as standard.
Not really needed though as when a fat bastard like me gets on one it'll barely reach 30 down hill with the wind behind me
