Did you see what that bloke riding the RS did to that corsa?! Shocked

For those that didn't catch it, a rider on an RS50/125 not sure which, came around a blind bend on a Yorkshire moors road, on the wrong side of the road and collided head on with a corsa.

The impact damage was huge, he actually folded the roof in on itself.

Needless to say he ended up in the mortuary.

Nasty. Confused Sad

What I found more worrying was the fact that they said he would have only been doing 20mph, and the car had practically stopped when he hit it. Just bad luck apparently... Sad

** snip : one of the officers said it was a 50cc

20 mph, it's hard to believe you could do that at that speed.

Mind you, what about the guy on the sports bike that exploded on contact with that Tigra! A very lucky bloke all things considered.

I found that fact of the speed (20mph they reckon) really concerning.

Also, did we pick them up wrong, or did they say that when the guy landed on the bonnet / windscreen, that his bike landed on top of him before hitting the deck.

Whatever the actual cause, the outcome of that is devastating. My heart goes out to his family, can you imagine how they must feel if they had watched that programme!!! Shocked

Also, that poor lassie driving the car.

Very, very, sad!!! Sad Makes you think doesn't it!

I felt for the driver, from the look of it she did absolutely everything she could to avoid him. It must have frightened the life out of the poor lass. Sad

I know that was a bad crash,i think alot of the damage was caused by the bike following him up the car then falling on him (OUCH!!!) and ending up on the floor.

Yep looked pretty horrible, and the general consensus seemed to be that it was one of those one in a million things (thats what I got out of it anyways). Apparently the bike followed him over the bonnet of the car, so 12 stones going at 20mph became more like 35 stones at 20 mph. Poor bugger Sad

In all fairness, if you ride around a blind bend on the wrong side of the road, you can't expect the road to be empty.

Can't see how an impact speed of 20mph would have killed Confused.

It depends I suppose, how you hit your head. At the wrong angle, it's possible to break your neck at a fairly low speed. And the was he stoved the roof in...... Confused

Near where I live called "Grain Road" there is atleast 2 Bike deaths a year Crying or Very sad .
I heard of one where a CBR600 was comming around a bend and an international artic lorry was comming the other way.
The CBR6 was doing 112mph and the artic was doing just under 80mph.

The poor guy on the CBR.. well, He was completley decapitated and all of his ribs were sticking out of his back.

It really scares me, I think maybe i should get a car, it may be safer. Saying that, I see myself as quite a sensible driver. But alot if the time its not us is it? Its the other road users who dont see us bikers!

God Bless the guy on the RS50. I also feel for his family. I take it he was 16 YO.

Ben...

You could kill yourself if you fell over whilst running, if you landed badly.

Quite disturbing to hear that the crash was only at 20mph, if it's true that is.

Anyone notice that the copper who had a 'thing' for people parking on zigzag lines was actually half parked on the same zigzag lines when there was no need to be. Tut Tut

People die in cars every day. It's just that the BBC isn't on a 'all drivers are psychos' trip like they are with bikes.

Exactly, and some people survive crashes / accidents that you wouldn't think possible. It's all about how you land / fall / time of the month / state of the economy / cycle of the moon etc... Smile

The main additional thing in a car is the sense of security from the metal box around you, you can still be seriously injured in a car accident, and the injury could be caused by that cage around you.

Suppose the death at low speed impact is just because of wrong angle, or similar.

Sammy boy, why is that post redundant?

Its not an impact speed of 20mph unless they were both doing 10mph, the actual impact is the combined speed of the vehacles, so 40mph is more like it...

Cars are specificly designed to self destruct, everyone says how they prefer to be in a cage but thats what it is in a crash...

But motorcycleists kill old people small children and kittens for fun, the press like haveing a villain, people are only too happy to agree, we couldn't have people thinking for themselfs or useing logic could we Shocked

I saw an article in the paper the other day... the headline was "Police crack down on bikers" the article discribed old farts complaining about the noise of kids on STOLEN bikes makeing noise.... then going on to rant about bikers being dangerous and them trying to run them over... WHAT IN HOLY ****?

The moronic press in papers fit only for emergency toilet roll are makeing statements that against an individual would have them in court answering to slander charges in five minutes, yet is on the front page of the shit rag excuse for a double glazeing advert....

(sharpens sticks)

Apparently the car was at a standstill pretty much (as she saw the bike coming), and the bike was judged to be doing 20mph...

Yeah, anything over 25mph over the speed limit generally means court.
