 |
|
Ive spent a lot of time this week driving to and from Swidon via the M5/M4 interchange which at the moment is scattered in road works with Average Speed Check areas marked up at 50Mph....
Now unless someone knows something I dont, I didnt think a car could find a single way around this one, unless the cameras arnt hooked up.. however I daily see cars fly past me doing atleast 60 possibly more..
So am I missing something? Do they know something I dont...
Interestingly, these zones obviously apply to bikes using the motorways but can the cameras actually catch out bikers braking the limits as they are forward facing.. ive heard from others that changing lanes fools the cameras but im pretty sure this is nonsense..
share with me your knowledge if you know more.. |

Thin layer of hairspray on the front of the car renders it invisible to cameras. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Many aren't even on. You'll notice the IR emitter's glow dim red at night, but some don't, I'm guessing the ones that don't glow aren't working. For sure, none that I've seen marked 'not in use' have had glowing IR emitters. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Possible explanations:
1) They're all coppers on a call.
2) They're work vehicles and their employer has agreed to give a "don't know, could have been anybody" answer to the Section 172.
3) They're lawyers who have determined that there's no Traffic Order in place to validate the limit.
4) They're idiots who see some another idiot doing it, and reckon that it's OK.
Can you guess which I think is most likely? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

A NIP from Average Speed Camera's was posted through my door (delivered to the wrong address by a myopic postman) which stated 64 MPH in a temporary 50 zone (M5 West Midlands) so I know that some people are "done" by them.
As to those that whizz through 'em, I always think to myself "Would I bet some extra points on my licence that they aren't working ...." |

Some of those who blast through SPECS are prolly in rentals and from foreign shores. Almost always allowed to go free though detected.
Speed cameras are triggered at:
Whatever the speed limit for the road is plus 10% plus 1mph.
So for A 50mph SPECS/Gatso/Truvelo you'd be cool at 56 mph.
What bursts me is the folk who trust the speedo.
When they see 50mph on the speedo they're only doing 47mph.
I`ve checked several speedos against gps and can safely say most speedos indicate slightly more than actual speed.
I have corroborate the gps against other gps to reduce error.
What it means is on a 50mph SPECS system I'd drive/ride at the gps indicated speed of 56mph but I then meet folk keeping a steady 47mph who think I'm speeding.
But I'm within the legal threshold. O ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

I drive through there on a regular basis. I wouldn't worry, people like to push the boundries where they can. Personally I don't see the point for a 5 min shorter journey time but some people are impatient. ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010.
