Hi guys,

My Alpinestars T Dyno jacket has been letting in loads of water recently and because I cant afford to replace it need to try and waterproof it. I know you can get nikwax products to warerproof stuff but was after some reccomendations or advise on somthing that really works well as im getting very annoyed getting soaked everytime it rains!!

Any help is appretiated. Thanks Fray

Or 30 pac-a-macs from the £1 shop. Wink

I've tried TX Direct, it didn't completely restore the waterproofing on my RST jacket - bugger still leaks at the elbows. Now if it looks like rain I just take the car carry a thin waterproof jacket. Day-glo, of course. Very Happy

+1!!!

I got one and a pair of the trousers to go over my leathers after they were recommended to me. They were well worth the money. They've been waterproof on plenty of long rides in really hanging weather. Thumbs Up

Cheers for the tips! Might go for a thin rain mac and leave it packed up under my seat for when it rains sounds like the easiest and most reliable option other than taking the car, lol!! My Spada textile trousers are fine they dont leak at all. Its my shoulders and chest that are getting soaked from my Alpinestars jacket leaking and then it takes ages to dry out which is a pain.

Will have a search online now see what I can find Very Happy

I used Nikwax on my textile jacket last year when going to France. It pissed it down on the way down to the tunnel so it got a good test on the first day. I was dubious about its effectiveness, but it worked a treat. Kept me pretty much dry all the way down the M1.

a lot of t-dyno jackets never were waterproof......just showerproof, does it have a drystar label on it?

try an alpinestars RJ5 jacket over it?

Tbh Andy it was never the best from brand new, wasnt as bad as it is now but was never warerproof as stated in the jacket spec and no it hasnt got a drystar label on it.

Im tempted to try the nikwax tx spray on and if that doesnt work then buy a rain mac. Will look ino that Alpinestars RJ 5 rain jacket thanks.

Have used the Nikwax glove waterproofer which worked well but made the gloves a bit slippy for a few days.

I use a £12 building site jacket from that eBay site over my HG textiles in the worst weather. It has a high collar, is 3/4 length and keeps the majority of water out even in prolonged downpours. Any damp that gets through is dealt with comfortably with the textiles.

I've spent 12x that amount on Frank Thomas utter shite before and the builders jacket trumps it completely. I only wish I found this out years ago. Rolling Eyes

I have a yellow, as it was only colour in my manly size, now as it turns out for the bike, not a bad colour, but not my fab for walking with, ESP now it's a tad oily.

Now these tops cost 120 quid, but twice a year a go outdoors, they are half price.

Best top I've ever bought. Ok same as this but it's new version at more cash.

I have a distaste for Nikawax ever since their shitty bottle leaked under my seat covering my rear hugger in their waxy crap and stained, it will not come off, thoroughly annoying stuff....I thought I had thrown in out, then I found the bottle of it yesterday and it near enough promptly exploded covering the floor and a desk in it, for this experience alone I will never ever by Nikawax, and to be honest their visor proof was shit, just made everything murky.

I would go with Pups suggestion of an over coat, think I have Frank Thomas one and it kept me dry for the few days I was riding in bollocking down rain, it is the cheapest way to get waterproof.
