Bike is probably stolen and if it's more than 15 minutes ago may well be hidden or torched now.

Good on you for making the call though. Thumbs Up

finished on phone they turned round and "told" me to write a statement so they can issue a section 59 against them.

s.59 is a f*cking odious piece of legislation based on the above. I'd heard anecdotally of people getting hit with one of these (mainly offroading buddies, though one van driving friend too) based on the "evidence" of a rambler that's got their knickers in a twist about nothing, but if that's what the police are advising people to do it's vile.

Not that I'm suggesting that you're lying about what you saw, I'd like to make that clear. But the implications of the legislation appear to be massive.

Have to agree. There aren't enough checks/safeguards to prevent innocent people falling victim to false (whether deliberate or accidental) reports. It's not good, even though a few genuine tossers have no doubt met their comeuppance through it.

How does this warrant a 999 call? This is not an emergency. It is not life or death.

Call the non emergency number.

First thread where Dumball hasn't been mass raped? I think so Laughing

I'd personally call 999 and they are putting their own lives, as well as others (such as yourselves!) at risk. Good on you for calling Thumbs Up

I received a s59 on my DRZ400. It was stupidly loud. Now I know some of you say your bikes were loud. But it was louder.

The previous owner had taken a full FMF system and basically lopped the end off, removed all the packing and jetted to suit.

I work in catering, so I'd be coming home at 3am sometimes. Although I'd coast most of the way down my road, I guess the road connected to it complained.

The popo were waiting for me one monday morning at the end of the road and had a word.

I did point out that as an enduro spec motorcycle it didn't need indicators etc, and that I regularly competed on it (bs) and so needed the power, poor young guy etc. No fine, just a bit of paper saying if we feel like it your bike will be destroyed. Or more likely end up as a chief constables field bike.

It's a tricky one. I keep my neighbourhood and town police numbers on my mobile, then I'd try 101. I'd hesitate to dial 999 for that, I guess it depends on how much they'd noised me up.

I would.

Was a member of the PNG forum, was a truck driver on there. He had the exact same thing happen, however the truck diddnt quite stop in time. Pillion ended up in intensive care, unknown if he survived, riders head went under the drivers wheel.

No lights, lids, mot, insurance and at silly oclock at night wearing dark clothing.

Honestly, call them. It proper fucked the guy up in the head. Felt guilty and shit, needed a helluva lot of councilling.

I honestly don't think I would feel guilty in the slightest if that happened. Confused

Don't be shy about dialling 999. It's the number provided to get in touch with the police quickly: if and how they respond to it is up to them.

Trust me, that time of the night, they'll be getting a lot more "emergency" calls from Shazza saying that Traciii has just texted her saying she's a slag for shagging Bazza but it's Tracciii that's the slag cuz Bazza doesn't know that Traciii's banging Darryl as well, right, so that's totally harassment and she should get proper done for it.

And if you think I'm joking, I only wish.

Nothing wrong with calling the emergency number instead. Worst that would happen is that they tell you to call 101 instead. Thumbs Up

Don't blame you for calling 999, I once tried the police non emergency number I had no idea what it was so I had to phone directory enquiries, plus it was an 0845 number so it cost me loads on my mobile.

How many laws have they broken.... potental stolen ped...

The problem with 101 is it goes to your local police. If called from a mobile. This may not be the area you need to talk too.

I was under the impression 999 was for emergencies, not reporting crimes.

Why is it that people seem to think you should only call 999 if someone's head is about to fall into a meat grinder or something?

If something is an emergency to you, then that is the standard to use.
No, kittens are not going to die if you report something that is marginally less dangerous than an axe murderer.
