I'm looking at getting a bike as soon as I pass my DA. The problem is I don't feel too comfortable on most bikes as I have long legs. The bike I feel most comfortable with is the V-Strom, but unfortunately its a little out of my price range for a first bike.

Can anyone recommend a similar kind of bike for a beginner?

Cheers

I'm 6 foot 3" ish and am comfortable on my FZR600. Many sports bikes have you stretched out I guess. Is this because you don't want to look like your on one of those mini-moto? or because you cant fit your legs behind the tank/or fairings?

It just feels very uncomfortable - like my legs are about to kick into my chest. Now the V-Strom I like very much and would buy it if it wasn't my first bike.

All the cool traillie things that us shortarses can't fit on. Thumbs Up

Have you got a genre of bike you're looking for, eg. a sports, a commuter, a cruiser... ?

I've recently bought a brand new '04 model Fazer 600. I'm 6'1, 15st4, and it's supremely comfortable, very relaxed riding position, while you can still tuck behind the screen if you fancy a bit of M'way riding. It's an absolute beauty, I feel a lot safer and more in control than I did on my death 'ped.

Apparantly the previous model was an even better all rounder, so a 2nd hand model is quite possibly a better choice, I just like the styling of the new version, and the support of buying new from a dealer.

TDM850? Although possibly a little large in the engine area for someone with little experience.

All the best

The TDR 250 is pretty tall, brilliant little motor and excellent for wheelies. Thumbs Up

when ive gotten on small bikes before i have trouble even changing gears im that tight, not too mention i have big feet which makes it even harder to change gears. i dont know vulture but it is very uncomfortable to be cramped on a bike. When i got on my uncles GSXR 750 it was the perfect size!!, i think thats gunna be my second bike, anyway this thread isnt about me, Embarassed

https://www.motorbikes.be/en/ - go here, it may be of help, maybe not, it has all the specifications of bikes, incl. height, weight etc.

These bike's are pretty large:

Honda African twin.
Cagiva elephant (ducati motor).
Aprilia pegaso.

That's if you like those sort of bikes, and looking on ebay they can be picked up fairly cheap.

Damn, I was going to say an africa twin.

The vfr 800 is a nice size, so is it safe to assume the 400 is aswell?
