Hi guys just wanting to know what people have tried and like or what to avoid, price range irrelevant. I like the look of HJC's FG-15 anyone have anything to say about this? Or maybe AGV's S4SV, or even a Shoei XR1100 (if you have the £). Thanks..

I would stay away from the AGV S4SV to be honest. It has a bit of a design flaw in it. With mine any speed over 45 and it starts whistling and is pretty noisy. In a moment of genius, AGV decided not to bother to use a wind-tunnel the lid.

If you have a good dig around on google, there is quite a few things about the issue. Unfortunately I never looked till after Embarassed .
I tried contacting AGV who fobbed me off twice and told me to speak to the shop. I e-mailed back thanking them for saving me the trouble of ever buying their brand again Laughing .

It's a real shame as apart from that it's great helmet for the price.

I'm heading into town tomorrow to go to the Lid shop I got it from. They have replaced the S4SV model and i'm going to ask if the new models visor will fit and if it will solve the problem. I'll let you know what they say.

My KBC VR.
It was the only lid in the shop that fit my head and I like the design.
Cheek pads are really thick which makes it feel more secure.
Has Double D ring instead of those crappy quick release seat belt type fasteners, and pinlock ready although I use a fogcity instead. Laughing

Thanks Nick please do!
How much did the KBC set you back? My first helmet was a KBC it seemed solid enough.

I've got a HJC FG-15 and it's a great fit. I also have a HJC IS-MAX Raptor and that's a great fit as well. I think HJC use a model of my head for designing their helmets.

Have you tried them on in shops?

Fit is generally more important than anything else, whether or not the visor opens easily or noise is cut down will be irrelevant if it's tight in the wrong places or your head wobbles about in it.

Very true this but the new models, the AGV Horizon and AGV Skyline have been revised to make them quieter Thumbs Up

My double D lock press stud got mashed within a few weeks of trying to do it up in gloves, now I can't do it up at all so it's technically illegal, was a cheap lid in general though - much preferred the quick release when I did my CBT Thumbs Up

Yep. The only difference seems to be the little side vents have gone on the models. Apart from that I can't see any noticeable difference, well apart from the price.

I'm hoping it's just a visor issue as I need a pinlock one anyway so was going to see if I can blag a Skyline visor at a discount.

I bought an HJC R-PHA10, its a great helmet and fits me perfectly. Its my 2nd HJC and have no complaints about either. So if you have tried the helmet your talking about and it fits you well I would get it.

Why does having a mashed press stud stop you from fastening a double D ring? Surely it just stops the end flapping about? The fastening is done by the friction lock of the strap on the rings. Unless I'm missing something.

I have an AGV S4 SV - tis fine. It's a lot quieter than the Caberg V2R it replaced. Whistled a bit at the start but has stopped now...? Anyway I wear earplugs now so can vouch that mine, at least, is fine for noise at, er, legal speeds. That's on a naked Hornet as well Thumbs Up
