As some of you may be aware (if you frequent the workshop).

I have recently put a replacement engine in my bike (gearbox failure).

What are the ramifications of this?

I guess I need to inform DVLA?

I have an MOT in a few months, will this be a problem?

Will it be ok that I have done the work myself?

I told my insurance and they were fine and didn't charge me any extra.

I have held off telling DVLA in case they start asking for garage reports and the like but I need to sort this before my MOT.

Thumbs Up

You HAVE to inform the DVLA right away. The MOT bod will check your engine number against your logbook and if it does not match, they will not MOT the bike.

You can get in trouble if you do not inform the DVLA of any changes Sick

EDIT: Actually, I think it's your chassis number not the engine number...better wait until someone educated comes along Mr. Green

This is not a problem you should really inform dvla of the new engine number.
I assume it's the same size engine ie.cc.if once the dvla know no body else needs to be told .

Fill in the relevant section on your v5 with the new number and send it off.

Or just don't tell anyone coz no-one checks and no-one cares as long as the engine isn't stolen and you have some proof of purchase.
