The world did not choose to rally against Hitler in order to protect the Jews as the holocaust was not officially recognised until the latter part of WW2.
IIRC Hitler started to persecute and murder Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Communists and the Mentally Ill all at around the same time in the early/mid 1930's.

Let me reword my original post for the pedants amongst us;

If Hitler had started exclusively with Gypsies and not a broader spectrum of Nazi vision, the world would perhaps, maybe, not rallied against him.

I think it was cause he was an angry moustacheod little cunt with a dodgy hair cut who regularly appeared in black and white film.
